Are there any bars/pubs to watch MLS in LA? Particularly on the westside? If not..anyone want to start a group for watching MLS?
thought i saw a couple places on the galaxy site where they had viewing parties, at a place near hermosa beach if i remember correctly. Somewhere closer would be better. If you are serious about getting something started though, let me know, mixing drinking and soccer is always fun.
I found this interesting site that lists all the pubs/bars in California that subscribe to the Fox Soccer Channel. http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/800950 hope this helps a bit...
I live in Costa Mesa, there are a few decent bars. Hopefully if everyone just gives us locations where they are, we can get a list going our selves. <shrug> The Shamrock Bar & Grill 2633 W Coast Hwy Newport Beach, CA 92663 (949) 631-5633 **I have seen players from the national team hanging at this joint in the past. Really relaxed spot durring the day. The Harp Inn 130 E 17th St Ste A Costa Mesa, CA 92627 (949) 646-8855 www.harpinn.com/ **Do not expect to see weekend night games on the TV's at this place as they have live music. Again really relaxed durring the week around mid day, decent prices they show everything from F1 to Rugby. Silky Sullivans 10201 Slater Ave Fountain Valley, CA 92708 (714) 963-2718 **Seen plenty of sports here, food and beer selection are nice.
Here are places LARS have done viewings of Galaxy away games. many work for other MLS games, too. 05/26/07 vs. Colorado Rapids @ Red Car (South Bay) 06/09/07 vs. FC Dallas @ British & Dominion (South Side) 08/05/07 vs. Toronto FC @ White Harte (Valley) 08/18/07 vs. New York Red Bulls Official @ 6740 (East Side) - Official FO Party 09/30/07 vs. Columbus Crew @ Underground (South Bay) Official FO Party Also try these soccer favorable places: Santa Monica: McCabes Culver City: Joxer Daleys Hermosa Beach: The Underground (George Best's old place) Manhattan Beach: Grunions Long Beach: Springbok My favorite thing to do is take over a pointy football place with a crew of soccer guys, and make them change the station to the Columbus/KC matchup. Our beer tab earns us their respect.
Yankee Doodle's in Santa Monica has FSC and FSW. If a decent amount of fans go, they'll surely show matches on one of their 2 projection screens or multiple (ie. 6-10, not sure)flat panel TV sets. I go there for USMNT matches now and then.
I see a lot of people have been, but anyone want to do it every other weekend or something to watch some MLS games? I assume none of these places have direct kick?
