(This message is from Huss and JonnyQuest and is being posted in each forum by the moderators.) Dear BigSoccer Members and Premium Members, As we hope you all know and appreciate, we are always striving to make BigSoccer the best community it possibly can be. One of the keys to our community is our moderators. They work hard to provide a fun and safe environment for everyone on the site. Of course, we realize things don't always go smoothly and that when some people have praise others have complaints. We are instituting a new procedure for reviewing our moderators, and that involves soliciting feedback from you. This is a serious excercise and we ask you to only participate if you take it seriously. We are asking you to post your praise and criticism, and suggestions, regarding the moderation of THIS PARTICULAR FORUM in this thread. Personal attacks will be binned (the mods have our approval to do this) and we are only looking for thoughtful criticisms or compliments. Though we'd prefer you didn't, if you are uncomfortable posting in public, please send EMAIL to help@bigsoccer.com. Thank you for your participation. Huss and JonnyQuest
I take it that the lack of comments means that everyone is happy with the way we are running this board?
I think the mods on this forum do just fine. They are pretty tolerant of trolls from other boards, but that's OK. Besides, the SJ posters think they are nazi's, so they must be doing something right.
I've had some problems with the moderating in this forum. Last year, understandably the moderators got upset about San Jose fans trolling after the Cup. But not everybody from SJ was trolling, and when I had a post deleted in FEBRUARY and the moderators said it was because of the post-cup 'trolling' I was able to point out that I'd only posted twice here since the cup and both posts were in late November. They're obviously too biased to treat other bigsoccer participants fairly. Secondly- everybody has their own style. I frequently note in a haiku format- very soccer specific, but just to amuse myself. I haven't done as much this year as last, but in most forums I'll go drop a poem in the upcoming opponent's board the week before a game and talk to people about who's hot on their team, what the strengths are of my team, etc. This is usually well received- see the Crew board last week for example. On this board, the moderators, in particular 100fyrz, attack and delete these without regard to content. It's unreasonable. DougO
100fyrz and intergalacticgrrl are nice people, but they seem to have taken a long leave of absence.... Topper
I have no problems with 100fyrz, intergalacticgrrl, Coach or PZ. I think they do quite well to maintain an enjoyable atmosphere without letting things get out of hand, overly serious or ill tempered. For the couple of times I have had a concern, they were helpful and quick to respond.
DougO: What are you really trying to accomplish with your Haiku's? Content or not you are going to get a negative response from the posters here. There is a board for that. Topper: Lack of posting does not mean lack of Moderating. And isn't it high time you quit trying to get IGG fired? Face it she's here to stay.
"Fired" seems to indicate that she gets paid. I know that can't be true. I think you should proclaim me "Uber Moderator", so I could red card her just on a whim.... Topper
TOPPER...When you come around, you are next in line; you and 100fyrz were my choice moderator. 100fyrz has done a marvelous job. Circumstances, such as mine, have led to absenteeism by several of the mods. please do not curse them (sorry if i am harsh). for they, as well as you and i, live there own lives on occassion, we focus on immediate needs, needs that detract from recreational resposibilities given time, all mods (and former) will respond be patient, they sh'all respond For Jesse or Huss or wathever, As a former Galaxy mod, I can honestly say that the current core of moderators have done a great job. 100fyrz' quasi leave of absence is understandable, just as is interrgalicticgirl's PZ and Coach have stepped in there subbatical Thanks to them, the LA Galaxy Forum @bigsoccer.com is running smoothly An ol' mod, SPECIES 5618
Damn! So, this is what Lala's Patron did too me. Made me sound like a rambling idiot (Which is what I probably was). I remember coming home drunk after the semi-final game and posting. Looks like I did a lousy job at it. Maybe it's understandable considering the circumstances. Never did I entend to get on anybody's case. My sincere apology Topper. When I knew I couldn't give the moderator's job it's due time, I stepped aside. I strongly believe the current mods will do the same when they think it is neccessary. If that happens, you are our next moderator. Jesse Drunk or sober, I still think the current mods are doing a great job. Yet, if you feel long periods of absence are unacceptable, then a few of them are guilty. Hopefully they will come around. Cheers, SPECIES 5618
I'm just doing my part to enjoy and help create that "fun environment" Huss and Jonny Quest are talking about. Is soccer no fun for you? Is talking with other people about soccer no fun for you? We all use the language differently. What's the big deal, what's so wrong with a haiku? Speak with fewer words High pith-to-byte ratio Haiku discipline. DougO
How big was this bottle of Patron that Lexi gave to RS that could cause quite a stupor amongst even more drunken fools? Sounds like you had the most. Damn, and I had to go to my cousin's wedding and miss that?
