Pubic Comment Period: Official Sitewide Moderator Review (This message is from Huss and JonnyQuest and is being posted in each forum by the moderators.) Dear BigSoccer Members and Premium Members, As we hope you all know and appreciate, we are always striving to make BigSoccer the best community it possibly can be. One of the keys to our community is our moderators. They work hard to provide a fun and safe environment for everyone on the site. Of course, we realize things don't always go smoothly and that when some people have praise others have complaints. We are instituting a new procedure for reviewing our moderators, and that involves soliciting feedback from you. This is a serious excercise and we ask you to only participate if you take it seriously. We are asking you to post your praise and criticism, and suggestions, regarding the moderation of THIS PARTICULAR FORUM in this thread. Personal attacks will be binned (the mods have our approval to do this) and we are only looking for thoughtful criticisms or compliments. Though we'd prefer you didn't, if you are uncomfortable posting in public, please send EMAIL to help@bigsoccer.com. Thank you for your participation. Huss and JonnyQuest P.S. [Moderator Note] Just like with the rest of the posts on this board, if you are not a Metro fan, we could care less what you say.
Considering his encyclopedic knowledge of the team and its history, I cannot imagine a better mod for the Metro forum than Dan R. We've seen Sandy get really heavy-handed and card-happy with people, though that doesn't seem to have happened here for months.
I question the direction that these boards seem to be headed. I received a yellow card. My first since day one since Metrofan first started. I admit, I was over the top -- for me. Compared to the posts that have been made here over the years and the really stupid stuff like repeated spam messages that clog bandwidth, my offense was like Clint's lovetap on Allegria's topside. A foul, yes. A card, questionable. My worst wasn't even directed at a fellow poster. It was directed at that little strutting Napoleon, Kevin Stott.
More, since Yellow Card prevents me from editing. I do not know who issued the yellow and I don't really care. This isn't personal. I detect a change in the wind and submit that the boards are getting too tame. If you cannot lash out against shite reffing here, what is left? I really dislike the instant sending off of the trolls from DC or other clubs. Let them come on here and at least allow us to beat the crap out of them before sending them to the purgatory known as "Fan Rivalry". In fairness, when we go to piss on their lawns, at least allow us to empty our bladders, so to speak, before having the threads tossed. Make this fun again. I'd hate to think that these boards are going to become a nursing home for those wishing only to discuss statistics, formations and the undiscovered talent of Byron Alvarez.
Totally agree with ya Bill....we need to bring the spark back again...I could see if were talking about the Quakes and the younger Landon generation but with the Metros and DC we are known for having an edge and we need to keep that. We've had our offside comments , like the Diallo gun shot comments but it's always taken care of , quickly by most of us with no need for moderator interference. If there is every going to be a jumpy group of guys, it's here on the Metro boards.... if anything the cards should be issued to Nick and Oz for our toungue lashings on each other. My idea would be to add some sort of box at the end of each posting...have it give an option of red or yellow card offense...if it gets enough votes then a card is applied, one vote per member, otherwise Eric D would have all of us red carded. Just my sorry 2cents.
Wow, they're letting chimpanzees on the ent nowadays.......... Sandy and Dan are doing just fine. Whenever you're down on your luck, you can always say, "at least I'm not Sandy Cannetti" and suddenly, life catches some spark again.....Just kidding Sandy. And Dan R is stat boy, plus, you switch around the letters in his username, and you have DaRn and thats cool, and sort of KoRn-esque......
Dan does a fine job. Barely know he's a moderator. And he's an active poster and contributor on the boards. Yes, he's a little manic with all his stats, but that's what make's him so cute. Sandy on the other hand does a horrific job. I have no idea why he is a Metro moderator, forget about a SuperModerator. He rarely posts, and rarely contributes anything to any discussion. He has allowed offline real world grudges to cloud his poor judgement online on BS.com. Hence my yellow, which was a red until Huss reduced it. He has carded quite a few people for non-TOS violations because he doesn't like them. In summation, Dan= good, Sandy= tool with no accountability.
If they are willing to do the time keep the moderators the same. They really don't control things that much anyway. As for Sandy vs Dan, it should not be an issue as both are involved and have different styles.
