Title: Public Comment Period: Official Sitewide Moderator Review (This message is from Huss and JonnyQuest and is being posted in each forum by the moderators.) Dear BigSoccer Members and Premium Members, As we hope you all know and appreciate, we are always striving to make BigSoccer the best community it possibly can be. One of the keys to our community is our moderators. They work hard to provide a fun and safe environment for everyone on the site. Of course, we realize things don't always go smoothly and that when some people have praise others have complaints. We are instituting a new procedure for reviewing our moderators, and that involves soliciting feedback from you. This is a serious excercise and we ask you to only participate if you take it seriously. We are asking you to post your praise and criticism, and suggestions, regarding the moderation of THIS PARTICULAR FORUM in this thread. Personal attacks will be binned (the mods have our approval to do this) and we are only looking for thoughtful criticisms or compliments. Though we'd prefer you didn't, if you are uncomfortable posting in public, please send EMAIL to help@bigsoccer.com. Thank you for your participation. Huss and JonnyQuest
I'd like to see the moderators use some common sense in deciding what topics should be in the "MLS: Fans" forum. For instance, if Veronica Paysse and Landon Donovan threads get put there because they're too "light" for the main MLS forum, then why aren't the "Name the Caption" threads there as well? I also think JMU Soccer! goes a little overboard in moving some of the threads out of News & Analysis and into the main forum. Clearly some of these threads should be moved (polls, for instance), but other threads which present a serious, intelligent analysis of some MLS-related topic are moved from News & Analysis to the main forum for no apparent reason other than JMU Soccer! seemingly likes to move as many threads as he can find an excuse to move.
Why bother? I reported a pretty flagrant run of rampant racism by a bigsoccer regular in the national rivalries forums (the old "racism won't be tolerated" forum). The moderator laughed it off 'just a joke'. I reported that to Huss, and what happened? nada, zip, zero. The mod's still a moderator, the poster still has no card. You can forget the idea that this sort of thing makes one whit of difference. Guinho
You can read my response to that accusation here. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=16256 Also, if you ever do have a problem with my moderation, you're more than free to PM me, and I will discuss it with you. Then you can see that I'm not the power hungry moderator you're making me out to be
Sorry, if I implied you were power-hungry, JMU Soccer. However, you did seem to move about 5 times as many threads as the other moderators of the MLS forum combined, and sometimes it was hard to figure out why the moved threads couldn't have remained in the News & Analysis forum. But I'm glad to see that you'll be lightening up a bit re moving the threads. It wasn't the moving of the threads per se that was annoying but the fact that sometimes an active, interesting thread seemed to be quashed somewhat as a result of being moved.
My only source of unhappiness with respect to the MLS boards is the existence of the MLS: Fans forum. It serves no useful purpose.
i dunno... ever since they have created it, it's gotten rid of a ton of threads... yours included no offense, but i like that they are over there and not clogging up the general forum... i wish detter's caption threads would be moved there too
Re: Re: Public Comment Period: Official Sitewide Moderator Review I might just ask him to do that. Thanks,
Re: Why bother? I'm trying to change that. I spoke with the mods about that situation and believe the forum has calmed down considerably.
