Cody Gakpo will have an ungodly number of assists this season.... His crosses are so measured and inviting. They are like meals served on a gold platter to the leaping Luuk de Jong and Guus Til.
I'm honestly surprised that no big team came calling for Gakpo this summer. i wonder if scouts see a flaw in his game that I do not.
Supposedly Arsenal are going after Gakpo, I don’t know how real the interest is. Spurs are also mentioned (would be a bad choice… Dutch players seem to be struggling there, see Bergwijn, V. Janssen). An interesting option would be Leeds. They need a replacement for Raphinha, and I think it could be a nice stepping stone for Gakpo (less spotlight, more playing minutes). I think both Gakpo (and PSV) are waiting if they would qualify for Champions League first before any movement.
Was thinking the same thing vis-a-vis the champions league. I think he’s a goner if they don’t qualify.
PSV have to win two ties to qualify for the CL. Last season they failed. Benfica are the toughest team in the qualifying group but I don't know if teams are seeded or not. EDIT: They would have four pressure packed matches in August. Yep, it was close. I simply added that there's a 50/50 chance of a repeat with PSV (1 of 2 unseeded teams) and Benfica (1 of the 2 seeded teams) for the play-off round (assuming the favourites advance). The draw for that round is tomorrow so we'll find out soon enough.
They only lost because that Zahavi dude only scored in the Eredivisie and failed with sitters against among others Benfica in Euro competitions. If that dude scored half of the missed chances our Coefficient rating would be heavy breathing in France's neck.
PSV showing too much respect to a Rangers side that is very shaky with the ball and being pressed. PSV defender’s Need to get to the ball quicker. Teze in particular. Ramahlo on yellow. Nonsensical challenge. Teze played two good crosses were Luuk missed getting on the end of and then hit right at the fortunate Rangers keeper. Gakpo looking to find space should have scored before the half. Needs to show a lot more quality for me. Saibari looks very good and dangerous.
PSV too slow in possession, and sloppy when it matters. Very upsetting watching this Rangers is not even any good days it all.
