I just found out something quite remarkable

Almost the whole attacking force of Chelsea is made out by ex-PSV players.

    like:

    Mateja Kezman
    Arjen Robben
    Eidur Gudjohnsen.

And we all know Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jaap Stam, Philip Cocu, Boudewijn Zenden(played for the Blues ;) and now florrishing with Boro) Ronaldo, Romario became worldplayers in their period at PSV.

And we all know PSV is one of the best clubs in world to scout young talented players and lead them to a great future.

So maybe a new idea to get more players from PSV?

    I have some recommodations:

    Jefferson Farfan
    DaMarcus Beasley
    Johann Vonlanthen
    Mark van Bommel
    Wilfred Bouma

We didn't really want Farfan, and none of the others are players we really want. Well, save for Vonlanthen, who's a nice prospect. But we've no room for him now.
Besides, we already hold first choice option for Alex, who's likely a long term replacement for Gallas.

We already have an 'agreement' with them.

How do you think they got their hands on Alex.

I'm glad someone's paying attention. Chelsea have established an agreement with Eindhoven where youth players can go and train with each other, and as ClanBlue rightly points out, we funded their purchase of Alex with a view to having first option on him in 2 years time.

I think Beasley would fit well in Chelseas plan.

Just imagine him running the EPLs defenses ragged then passing it off to Drogba, Robben, Gudjohnsen, etc.

I wouldnt mind seeing that in one of my favorite teams

With all respect but all those are not good enough for Chelsea. Only Alex can get the Chelsea level. And Beasly is a good player for psv, nothing more. He is already 24 (correct me if im wrong ;) ) and wont get much better I think

hes 22, which makes him only 2 years younger than duff, 2 years older than robben(2 superior players) and being thathes also a LW, that leaves him nowheres to play for us

    You must be American...

He's got no chance in breaking into Chelsea squad. He can probably make a mid table team like Villa, Newcastle...lol, Spurs. But not Chelsea. You can't think of Chelsea like in the past. We are no longer a top 10 team, we are a top 3 team. We are expected (instead of hopeful) to win a championship every year. Our caliber of player has changed. We only sign the best in the world now and DMB is not of that group. He's very good and a great player. I love him in the USMNT and when he was with Chi-town but he will never play for Chelsea.

Of course after saying that, in a month from now he'll probably be the hot January rumor...

I wouldnt put it out of the realm of possibility... RA and Kenyon are very eager to break into the US market, and what would be better than to get one of the talented, young players?? i agree that he isnt 1st choice material right now. but who's to say with a couple years of european football under his belt he wont be a good sub for Robben.

One of? Who are the other taleneted young American players? :D

I like the 22 year old DaMarcus Beasley (always have) and I would say he's the ONLY young American player who could even vaguely be considered. But compare him to Robben (20), Ronaldo(19), Reyes (21), Rooney(19), all the R's, etc and his short coming are fairly obvious. He's not good enough to make it into a top 3 squad in the prem at the moment, if he was he'd already be there.

So we wait for the African Adu. Much Adu about nothing? Time will tell.

Donovan, Convey, Connor Casey... just to name a few. I am not comparing to the young R's, but i would like to see where he is after a couple years at PSV.... oh and Adu is American :D

Lol...Freddy Adu is American like Arnold Schwarzennegger (SP??) is.

There are quite a few good, young American players. The problem is that the American fans overhype them...and the European and South American fans underrate them too much. These young Americans (young American, young Americans, she was a young American, allllllll night...I digress), these young Americans are somewhere in between that. They are better than the South American and Europeans think and not as high as us Americans believe.

That's one of the problems with BigSoccer, there's two cliques. The pro-American and anti-European fans. Very few people like both. I can't even go into the MLS or US Boards because I get railed as a "euro-snob" just because under favorite teams I don't list USMNT, Fire, DC United, etc. Just because Chelsea is my only team, in their eyes I am somewhat less of an American soccer fan...but this is all for a different thread.

No he was born in Ghana (I think that was where). Meaning he's not technically American. Though he gained US Citizenship later. Like Ah-nald.

Lets be careful - we don't want to invite the Yanks Abroad people here. That's the scariest collection of soccer fans you'll ever find.
Why even moi, with my delicate temper and reasoned posts was admonished for making too much fun of their stupidity. So be warned, unless you want a torrent of "Landon Donovan is good enough to play for Chelsea" posts.

Well, maybe Roman will buy DC United or the MetroStars as a feeder club?

In my time watching MLS (6 years) the quality is certainly getting better. I’d like the quality to be even better than that, but at the moment it isn’t. The top young Americans haven’t really taken Europe by storm and I am sure at some point one or two of them will. But not yet. It is an argument I often have with my septic counterparts and it goes like this…Our young players are getting better and better in the US and soon we’ll be so improved that we’ll win the World Cup. To which, I reply, sure the players in the US are getting better, but so are the players everywhere else in the World, other nations are not standing still waiting for you lads to catch up. Reyes, Robben, Rooney, Ronaldo and the other 'R" Robinhio :). And so on goes the argument. . .

Adu is as American as John Barnes was English :D

While that may sound funny, its not a bad idea. Supposedly Barcelona are looking into the same thing as well. We can raise Chelsea's profile in the states, and send them players on loan. I don't REALLY expect to see much of a boon from player development (since technically the league owns the players), but you never know.
Although, our image is improving - while walking to the gym last night (personal note - don't do that after a few glasses of the Laphroaig 15) around Columbus Circle wearing my Zola shirt, I got a couple of "Chelsea!" yells. :)

    ---DMB----------LD-------Gaven----------Adu
    --Convey----Whitbread---Onyewu-------Spector

It has gotten better. Much better. But MLS fans are dillusional as to how good it is.

Good point though with everyone else getting better.

I would love to see Roman buy a team in the NYC area to set up a derby with the Metrostars. He could call the team NY Blues.

BTW, Landon Donovan is good enough to play for Chelsea...but I would never start a thread to state something as obvious as that. :p

Nah, but my point was that there are a lot of quality Americans coming up through the ranks. As someone pointed out in this thread, PSV make a habit of picking out the greatest young talents in the world. It says a lot that they paid a lot of money (by their standards) for DMB. It says even more that DMB isn't even close to being our best young player.
