^ Yes. Most of us are guilty of favoring flashy attacking players because they are such a joy to watch, but I'd vote for TS as the most iconic for this current era with Ibra a close second. I'd never consider Beckham a PSG icon though (not saying that you are). Great player in his time and seems nice enough, but he didn't put in the type of work that the likes of Ibra and TS have for multiple years to elevate us to the level that we are today.
Oh good, yet another L1 ref who decides his moment to shine is in one of our games. And kudos to TFC, what an impressive display.
It seems like this is how the league will end for Paris. Every time Monaco falters, so will we. I don't mind second place as long as Unai delivers the CL
I will admit I was watching with a bias but I can't see how the soccer gods were so against us. Maybe an investigation to determine that it was for sure gods and not men? But that is a thin excuse for the missed chances of which any one of may* have had us 1 point instead of 3 from the top of the league. Additional respect for Emery for not blowing up on the referees at the end -- plenty other managers would have and plenty of talking points existed. * A goal changes everything so if one went in the result is not a certain 1 - 0 instead of 0 - 0.
Squad for tomorrow, no Motta who could make a difference in a battle. He's the only listed injury "treatment" the others out are training (coming back from injury) or for rest, pretty strong squad: http://www.psg.fr/en/News/003001/Article/79267/Le-groupe-parisien
ICI C'EST PARIS! 5 - 1 for three points on the road -- but still three points from the top of Ligue 1.
Several apparently 'walking wounded' to miss the CDF match tomorrow: Missing: BEN ARFA Hatem (treatment) CALLEGARI Lorenzo (reserves) DESCAMPS Rémy (reserves) DI MARIA Angel (treatment) GEORGEN Alec (reserves) RABIOT Adrien (treatment) THIAGO MOTTA (treatment) VERRATTI Marco (treatment) Full squad that will be available: http://www.psg.fr/en/News/003001/Article/79320/Le-groupe-parisien Live on beIN Connect, delayed to early evening on beIN's regular broadcast channel.
Yes, I have a very important appointment next Wednesday: http://www.livesoccertv.com/match/2368277/barcelona-vs-psg/
Watched the delayed version on broadcast beIN, sometimes you have to channel 'surf' on connect because guide isn't correct. Match was a figuative and literal 'slog' in the mud, dangerous both for injuries and upsets as those conditions are (can be) an equalizer for the lesser team who were also at home. Props to the traveling fans sitting in the rain and standing strong when the team came over to (finally) celebrate a goal. Late open net shot stopped by the mud puddle in front of goal should make some highlight and and 'blooper' rolls. Advancement and no apparently serious injuries (one groin maybe?) so a good shift put in by a heavily rotated squad. The 2 - 0 final scoreline does not reflect how tough it was to watch, let alone for them to play.
Oh I did, I checked each channel over and over again for like 20 minutes. Ended up missing the whole game, but oh well, just glad we won.
Monaco at home with Nantes Sunday, Nice away to Dijon tomorrow so maybe the best outcome this week is some separation from Nice i.e. they draw or lose and we win over Nancy (also tomorrow). The squad: http://www.psg.fr/en/News/003001/Article/79369/Le-groupe-parisien Squad: AREOLA Alphonse AURIER Serge BEN ARFA Hatem CAVANI Edinson DRAXLER Julian GUEDES Gonçalo KIMPEMBE Presnel KRYCHOWIAK Grzegorz KURZAWA Layvin LO CELSO Giovani LUCAS MATUIDI Blaise MAXWELL MEUNIER Thomas PASTORE Javier THIAGO SILVA TRAPP Kevin VERRATTI Marco Missing: AUGUSTIN Jean-Kévin (reserves) CALLEGARI Lorenzo (reserves) DESCAMPS Rémy (reserves) DI MARIA Angel (treatment) GEORGEN Alec (reserves) MARQUINHOS (rest) NKUNKU Christopher (rest) RABIOT Adrien (treatment) THIAGO MOTTA (treatment) Would expect some of the (rest) and (treatment) players will be back on the squad Wednesday.
Gritty win, chances went unfinished which we hadn't been seeing so much of lately. Despite announcers' comments the pk did not seem controversial if you saw (as they didn't seem to) the step on the side of the foot that caused the trip. Not a diver and not a dive. Second legitimate penalty later was a no call ... No injuries of note for Wednesday and some key players did get some rest ... TS is back and did not look less than 100%. Side note Nice and Monaco also won (Monaco big) so top of the table tie (Nice) and margin to first (Monaco) unchanged.
Next game is Sunday on the road against Lorient. Really intrigued to see how PSG will respond to last nights' debacle.
http://www.psg.fr/en/News/003001/Article/79467/Le-groupe-parisien Squad for Lorient; Verratti suspended and Matuidi, Motta, & Lucas w/ injuries. Everyone with Post Traumatic Shock -- let the healing begin. Live on beIN Connect, delayed on beIN broadcast channel.
I mean, as upsetting as the CL exit was (personally, the manner in which we got knocked out was the worst part), the one silver lining is that we can now focus on the league. We have always been spread too thin the past few years and end up getting knocked out in the QFs or so anyway. Not that I wouldn't rather be in the CL, but the season goes on and we have other things we need to be focusing on now. We absolutely need 3points today. Allez Paris!
