I'm surprised, we haven't heard Leonardo after this game ironising about the people who claimed that PSG signed Beckham for marketing purpose. Is it because his entrance to replace Verratti has not beed good ? His interview after the game against Marseille was rather arrogant in particular when you take into consideration that it was only 1 (!) good match against a team of Marseille that fielded the exact same starting 11 players 3 days ago since they have no depth and thus were exhausted. It was also pretty obvious that Ancelotti fielded Chantome as offensive midfielder on the right side and associated Beckham with Matuidi to compensate his lack of fitness. He's washed up physically : he barely runs, when he's challenged physically he's getting destroyed. All he has now is his long passes (not today, though), corner kicks. We are very far from Thiago Motta who changes the face of the team with the intelligence of his positioning, his phenomenal short passing or Verratti.

PSG pay its arrogance and it starts with the coach. You can't criticize the attitude of the players after Sochaux and showing the same thing by resting some important players or refusing to pick Thiago Silva in the group to preserve him for the CL while winning L1 should be the priority. Everytime PSG rested some players, fielded players out of position thinking it would be "only" Reims, they got punished. We have yet again admired Armand as left back and of course he has been horrible. How many times does he need to be reminded that 3 years ago, Armand was no longer a left back but paired with Sakho as CB because he could no longer play on the left side and was totally washed up which resulted in the signing of Tiene as left back.

Plus, Lucas started on the left side (!). Of course, it didn't work. Do I need to remind us of Nene who was the only real specialist on this position in the roster left during the last transfer window ? The only player who can play on the left in this 4-4-2...It was too obvious so Ancelotti fielded him on the right side or in the center

Another genius idea since the winter break was to anihilate the association between Ibra and Menez who was working perfectly fine while we all know that it's Menez' best position and that he's not as good while playing on a side and even less in a 4-4-2.

 

I think Menez is part of the problem. His poor attitude and he plays too individualistic. Beckham he does nothing other than makes long passes. There wasnt any fluidity, short passes, trying to string together passes kind of stuff going on. Its mostly do a long pass to try to get to Zlatan in the box. People make fun of EPL "kick and run" style but thats what I saw here.

2-1 god striked twice. Ibra : 10/10. On a side note, I'm tired to see Beckham replacing the vice pirlo, Verratti. We all got by now that he had to "shown" but when you have only a one goal lead it's rather ridiculous. PSG almost owned 2 goals because of him. Papy Beckham is totally washed up physically.

 

LA Galaxy and Beckham fan here. I've watched compilations of Becks' touches in his first few matches and while his passing is fine, it looks like he is dwelling on the ball too much, and not appreciating quite how fast and physical the challenges fly in in the Ligue. Has coughed up the ball in some dangerous spots. He also seems tentative rather than instinctive, very unlike his usual personality on the pitch. Haven't seen the Nancy highlights yet but was it those type of issues still? I think he does have a lot still to offer and I'm hoping he gets up to speed and plays his way into form. What's your take on his performance so far, as a PSG fan?

 

Real reason why Beckham came is promotion of World Cup in Qatar. He wil get nice contract. Charity work in PSG in some distant plans only. He is not in good shape at all. Second goal was nice, long ball, Gregorini went in empty space.

 

Our bad clubs may not have internationals like the bad clubs in the EPL do but even clubs like Nancy have a ton of good young talent. Ibrahimovich criticized the crowd but when you get totally outplayed by the 19th place team wtf do you expect

Anyway, Sakho complained again about being the 3rd choice in the CB hierarchy. It's the third time this season that he's complaining about it. His self-esteem is a little too high for what he's really capable to do. He's too slow, a mediocre passer, terrible in the air and unable to read a trajectory properly. Alex is better in the air offensively and defensively, has a better anticipation even though he has been mediocre, lately. He lacked a bit of agressivity against Saint-Etienne, still it's better than what Sakho offered lately.

 

Mamadou Sakho is not better than Thiago Silva, Alex, Gregory van der Wiel. Maxwell is maybe better. Thiago Silva has a great progress in his career. PSG will sell Sakho if he continues to be so demanding.
His self-esteem is high, because he was born in Paris. Domestic player who wants more attention. I think that he is aware that he can't have advantage against these players.

Nicolas Douchez, Zoumana Camara, Alphonse Areloa were born in Paris. PSG needs several domestic players, they can now buy anyone, but still they should be present even though they are weaker. I think that Sakho wants to be more relevant and he wants to keep his place in national team. He played today against Georgia. Their referee was from Croatia: Ivan Bebek. Have you seen this match?
