So he'd like 3 more players, 2 of them defenders. I'm not sure if we need 2 defenders, especially if Xabi comes over as well (because then I'd place Helguera back to def) ¿Wouldn't one extra defender be enough?

Well Lahm is a left back so I guess he would be cover for R.Carlos.

Hinkel is a right back...cover for Salgado.

If they get Luisao...then he has Samuel, Helguera, Luisao and ?
The ? being one of Bravo, Mejia, Pavon.

Remember...Camacho said he wants 2 at each position, so obviously he isn't happy with what Real has behind R.Carlos and Salgado on the flanks. Everytime Real were missing R.Carlos or Salgado they got fleeced.

The fact he wants Luisao still tells me he has no confidence in Bravo, Mejia, or Pavon. Because one of them would become the 4th central back and the other two would be out.

Minambres is probably gone or more likely loaned out. I think Pavon's future at Real is that of a cheerleader...likely gone. If he wants Lahm for the left side, it means he either wants to keep Bravo as a central back or he could be gone. Mejia is a ?, he could stay as the 4th central back or be loaned out.

Lahm would be a great pickup as a left back to play behind R. Carlos. Camacho said that he wanted all these players so that he could make rotations, which is the main reason why we didnt win anything last year. if he gets Luisao, Lahm and another defender, thats 2-3 guys thats would be in and out of the starting 11, therefore giving more resting time to people like Helguera and old man R. Carlos.

I don't know much about Lahm, but imo he was one of the best on the field for Germany against Holland the other night. Not afraid to go forward, either.

Yes Lahm did look sharp v. Holland. He's very young too - 20 I believe - so we can sign him and not play him right away if need be. But I'd still rather have Chivu...

one interesting thing about him - he plays on the left but he's right footed. i'd assume this means that he could play on the right as well.

Ahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :). I hesitated to to say anything about him before making sure that am talking about the right person. Well, as you you've said guys, he is young and he performed so good in Holland match.

bkn0528, that's what made me wonder about him. He played in the left side but he used his right many times correctly, although he dribbled one with his left then went to shoot with his right, but it went wide. He is too young and he needs to work phisically.

IMO, he could be perfect for rotation. Getting Del Horno will be more than "rotation" thing :). He could be useful in CL or even in big La Liga games or when Carlos get injured or suspended. Money can say it all.

Lahm is actually under contract with Bayern Munich. They gave him up a year ago and sent him to Stuttgart for a 2 year loan. Lahm took over the starting position this season. he actually did not make his name until around X'mas. Bayern Munich could not get him back for next season(I think), but I do not know his status beyond next season. Stuttgart's Margath has joined Bayern Munich and Lizarazu should be gone so Lahm would find a starting spot at Bayern Munich if he returns. bayern Munich also has another LB named Rau who is considered to be the future starter for Germany.

Hinkel may also be an interesting player. He plays right for Struttgart, but leftback for Germany. Until the last two months, Germany did not have any option on leftback. I am proud to be one of the first poster in Bigsoccer to sugguest that Lahm as the solution for the German leftback Everyone else thought that I was crazy. Hinkel is liked a younger version of Salgado.

It's coming... The players will start coming back tomorrow. According to AS, Camacho wants the following squad of 23 players:

    Casillas (Cesar, Diego Lopez)

    Salgado (Seitaridis)
    Roberto Carlos (Raul Bravo)
    Carvalho (Pavon) xxx Samuel (Mejia)

Beckham (Guti) xxxx Helguera (Xabi Alonso)
    Figo (Nunez)
    Zidane (Solari)

    xxxxxxx Raul (Portillo)
    Ronaldo (Morientes) xxxxxx

Damn... That is an impressive squad. So the major tasks to be accomplished are the signings of Carvalho, Xabi Alonso, and Seitaridis. Either of Portillo or Morientes could end up leaving, though, in which case Gilardino from Parma seems to be the forward Camacho would go after.

    Samuel: 25 million
    Carvalho: 22-25 million
    X. Alonso: 15-18 million
    Sietaridis: ??4 million

    All in the news:

Carvahlo would come for 20-30 mill. AS and Marca said. Florentino visited Oporto, and even though their president was tough, it looks like a done deal. What we don't really know is what part Seitaridis will play in all of this.

Also in the news affecting "Proyecto Camacho", Morientes is on the list of Abramovich (no surprise here, half the continent is).

Xabi Alonso, in Florentino's words, is as good as done. Price is agreed, he is just waiting for the elections to finish.

Emerson is still not done going to Juventus, and Real is still after him. If he doesn't come through, Vieira is on the list (he didn't do that well in the EC?), and also Costihna could fall in if both fail.

Personally, I was convinced by Maniche much more than the others in the EC, maybe only Emerson could do better, the rest just don't cut it, specially if Xabi is (he is) coming in.

Also, we are still forgetting about this year's "galactico". I know, everybody says, Camacho, the press, that there won't be one this year....somehow I don't believe it, not if Florentino gets happy after winning the elections in a few days. :) I've heard people talk like Totti "I love Roma and will stay here my whole life", of things of this sort and then come running to Madrid.

Camacho's tactical drawing can still change a bit, even though Bkn is right, we could start very well next season with the one he posted.

is Nunez a compatible sub for right wing? I really doubt about it. what about that 'Flan?' kid? I think he is a better choice. and Solari gonna stay here? if it is true, that is a really really good news. but did he have the same problem as Samuel or Ronaldo? he needs to get the Eu passport or something? coz he is from agentina. and is it too difficult to get Gilardino for Real?

proyecto camacho could be disrupted by the news the elections may be delayed by 15 days. this is due to the arguement of 'vote by mail' . marca and as have been reporting this for a few days and i think the decision is made today, in court!

Do you mean Juanfran? Well, I think it is still undecided whether he will be with the first team or not. Of course, there is an even better option for the right wing when Figo is out and needs a rest - hello, David Beckham!! ;) Queiroz never did it, but if the team has acquired a decent defensive midfielder, than there is no reason why for any particular game when Figo is unavailable or needs a rest, that they can't play Guti in central midfield in place of Beckham and move Beckham back out to the wing.

when i have seen juanfran, which has beeen on about 4 occasions he has looked lively, sharp and a gr8 prospect for the future.
also about guti playing in cm i heard somewhere, cant remember where (possibly as marca or realmadrid.com) that guti would be playing more of an attacking role next season like he did before quieroz came. in that story it also entioned the number of goals he scored that season it was fairly impressive.
if we get decent dm it could be a good option to play guti back were i feel he belongs (striker)

also just off-topic, what does the green square next to my number of posts mean. when i put the cursor over it it says i am of an unknown quantity, and when i do it on another user it says they are on a distinguished road???

that's your 'reputation'. you can give 'reputation' to a poster by clicking on the icon in the lower left hand corner of the post, to the left of the the triangle with the exclamation point, which is to report bad posts. when you get a certain number of 'reputation points' you will be on that distinguished road. people with brighter green squares and more of them have more good rep, and people with very dark squares are probably trolls.

click on 'my big soccer' to see if anyone has given you rep recently.
