    So what?

I have no problem with anyone who is proud to be American.

    Or Belgian.

    Or Japanese.

    Or Iraqi.

    Or Straight.

    Or Lesbian.

    Or Eskimo.

    Or Left-handed.

    Or Christian.

    Or Buddhist.

    Or Wiccan.

    Or White.

    Or Black.

    Or Burnt Umber.

Or The 1983 Ms. Pac-Man Champion of Muncie, Indiana.

    Or a Rapids fan.

    Or Male.

    Or Female.

Or A U. of Oklahoma grad.

    Or almost anything else.

The problem comes when you believe that being whatever the hell you are makes you inherently superior to someone else. That is a Bad Thing. That's when the trouble starts.

And once again a mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, chestpounding "patriot" needs reminding...and I'll capitalize so you'll know the important part when you get to it.

BEING ANTI-WAR DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU ARE ANTI-AMERICAN. NOR DOES IT MEAN THAT YOU ARE PRO-SADDAM. IT MEANS THAT YOU ARE FINDING FUNDAMENTAL FLAWS IN THE REASONS GIVEN FOR THIS PARTICULAR WAR, AND YOU WILL NOT GO AGAINST YOUR PERSONAL PRINCIPALS.

Understand?? Do you get it now??

There is no "with us or against us" in this world. And the more George W. says that, the more terrorists will attack us. Period.

Now close your mouth, you're drooling...

The ironic and ultimately sad thing is that while you are intending to refute BenR with sarcasm, you're more right about how embarrassed many if not most of those soldiers would be of aggressivley ignorant folks like you than you can possibly realize. Enjoy your Kool-Aid.

In an incredible display of Anti-American hatred, antiwar protesters destroyed a 9/11 Memorial in La Habra, CA to include the trashing over 80 American flags, 10 memorial tiles, numerous flowers and patriotic signs along with gluing an antiwar, Bob Dylan song to a sign that said, 'America, land of the brave, home of the free.'

    How is that NOT ANTI_AMERICAN?

Are you so narrow-minded that you can´t see that these vandals do not represent the whole anti-war-movement?

And what does that have to do with the basic act of being anti-war?? Do you think all anti-war supporters supported that act?? Do you really lump them all together?? That is your fundamental problem...it's that "with us or against thing" again.

    My God, you are thick.

    Hey, hey, wait a minute!
I had nothing to do with this!
I did NOT, I repeat, did NOT pour any
of that delicious Amora Dijon mustard
over this memorial ( would have been a
    waste, really).

Spitting Incident Reminds Airmen to Stay Safe
    by Staff Sgt. J. LaVoie
    Air Force News
    April 14, 2003

LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The wife of a military member here received an unexpected message recently from an anti-war protester.

Jessica Resendez, who was wearing a sweatsuit printed with an Air Force emblem, was walking through a shopping center parking lot when a woman grabbed her sleeve and asked her if she was in the military.

After explaining that she was the wife of an airman, the woman spat at the ground near Resendez's feet and said, "This is what I think of your military."

"She was looking at me with the most hate I've ever seen," Resendez said. "I looked at her and said 'How dare you.' It was all I could say. I walked back to my car and cried."

Airmen need to be prepared for these incidents, especially when wearing their uniform or clothing printed with Air Force symbols in public, according to an Air Force Office of Special Investigations agent here.

    Et francais, aussi.

In other news, Siggie Freud and Carl Jung called me from beyond the grave and said that LFOD is totally masturbating to these stories that to him justify his own guilt-ridden, passive-agressive persecution complex which he tries to overcompensate for by bellicose "pride" in what constitutes his fantasy of "being American" means.

I am a VietNam Combat Vet and my son is now serving in Iraq. Anti war protesters are not only hypocrites, they have misused and wrangled the privileges to express themselves. The demonstrators have stomped on the First Amendment, and dismissed the responsibility that goes with its practice. The dissidents have shown their selfish desire for a political program a total disregard for the people who have given the ultimate sacrifice over the last 226 years.

Isn't feeling pride or shame about things you have zero control over a sign of mental illness?

I'm glad I'm an American; I'm even glad I grew up in New Hampshire. If I was that chauvanistic, I would be proud that I live in 'America's most opinionated ZIP code', but only because I decided to move to where I live now.

I'm glad I'm a Revs fan; I'm very happy when the win, but I'm not proud I'm a Revs fan because it wasn't like I had to choose between them and, say, the RotMasters. Nor am I proud of the Rev's run to the final last October, although I was nearly delirious about it at the time. As Gerry once said on "Seinfeld", they played, I just sat there and watched.

By the same token, my being an American is a happy accident. Why on earth should I feel pride at benefiting from a happy accident?

No. Protesting and demonstrating is a God given and Constitutional right. I hope your son is, and continues to be, safe. But to say that we can't protest is just plain un-american. Protestors are not against our soldiers personally, nor are we un-American.

I'm not only against this war, but I'm also sitting at a computer on a major US military installation. Wrap your head around that one.
