I'm just wondering because I genuinely have no idea, but is there a free press in China? Do newspapers and TV programmes regularly openly criticize the Chinese government and question the motives, words and actions of its politicians? The thing is, regardless of what politicians say in the west (where no doubt spin is used very often) they don't get an easy ride from the media and if they are suspected of lying then questioning can get pretty hostile.

 

I don't watch US TV so I couldn't comment on what they're showing, but all that's been reported in the UK. The more graphic vigilante style beating of looters don't tend to get shown on TV, but that's more on the grounds of taste than censorship.

Actually, I saw the wide shot of the plaza LOTS of times during the broadcast on different News Channels. And they never mentioned more than 1000 people were there. In fact they were already saying about how the Arab world was going to start saying it was only about 1000 Iraquis there, which is what youre saying now.

The dude on the other picture also looks like my uncle Charlie(seriously), but he was in his home in North Carolina....or was he?.......

ANd just to counteratc your point you probably photoshopped that photo and made it look like less people there. Can you PROVE that you didnt?

And if you had any brains isntead of chow mein in you head youd know that theres been lots of critisim here over the fact that people are looting, no one is saying its freaking Eden there.

No US news outlet that I know of portrayed this statue coing down as a massive uprising, nor was mention made of exactly who was doing the pulling-down. I'm not sure anyone would have cared, to be honest. Perhaps your perspective is shaped too much by your media making mountains out of molehills in unceasing attempts to make the US look bad?
