2-0 loss. Horvath one of the higher rated players on Cardiff with four saves. Middlesbrough were just better, including a strong match from Morris.

He had a better day at the office, with some good saves, but they conceded from a corner early in the second half and an own goal late in the second.

Cardiff are bottom of the table right now. 24th place.

    From the BBC:

Neither side made much of an impression during an uninspiring first half, with efforts on goal limited to two long-range shots from Azaz which were both comfortably saved by Ethan Horvath.

But just as Cardiff were enjoying their best spell of the game, they fell behind.

Horvath scrambled to his left to superbly save from Azaz’s low shot and, from the subsequent corner, Clarke made it two goals in two Championship games with a thumping header.

Not sure what's happening with Cardiff, but it is surprising. Then again, from my perspective, the key is that Ethan's preformances are a) not the problem and b) the one silver lining in what otherwise looks like being a long, miserable season.

As long as this remains the case, whether they stay up or go down, Ethan will be moving on at the end of the season: his wages will be too high for League One if they're relegated or the promotion challengers that can't afford EPL loanees will look to buy a divisional Team of the Season contender.

The trick is moving to a club where at least half of the players look worse than you.

Not too sure you actually watched the game. Cardiff gave Boro some serious difficulty.

Ethan did well enough and wasn't at fault for the goals

Derby County defeated Cardiff by a 1-0 margin today. Horvath stayed on the bench.

Horvath's replacement made a horrific blunder with Derby attacking on the counter after a corner, as he and the last Cardiff defender couldn't decide who would go for the ball at midfield. Cardiff was only saved by the Derby attacker, Ebou Adams, missing a wide open net after winning the ball and charging forward.

Can't find any news reports on why Ethan was dropped, though there's plenty of speculation that the coach is one game from the dreaded vote of confidence.

Maybe he's just shuffling the pack. If so, stay calm and wait for the new coach would be the watchword

To nobody's surprise, coach Errol Bulut has been canned, with an assistant coaches being put in charge until a new coach is hired. There's a chance for a fresh start under the new guy.

Stay calm Ethan, and be confident

I'm afraid he's done in terms of ever becoming first-choice at a good level.

The yips seem to be over these days but he doesn't look like he commands his area or bosses his defence. He may simply be too nice a guy to impose himself in games.

I thought the USA had a constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment.

A top USL League One side would fancy their chances of staying up in that division. Drop any one of the USL Championship semi-finalists in there and they'd kerb-stomp their way to promotion.
