It is my understanding that the Eircom Premiership will expand from 10 to 12 teams next season. I have also heard that 3 teams from the First Division will be automatically be moving up (without playoffs I guess). Therefore, this would mean that the bottom team in the Premiership would get relegated.

    Do I have this right?

It would make more sense to me for no Premiership clubs to get relegated this season and for 2 teams to be moved up from the First Division.

AFAIK, it's 3 up and 1 down for this year.

    wouldn't agree with you there....

dublin city, who got promoted last year, are almost certain immediate relegation. speaking as a long suffering finn harps fan, we, along with bray wanderers and UCD are much better clubs with better infrastructure and support (with the exception of ucd who have little or no support).

still can't believe how city won the league last year 0 they were absolutely brutal!

besides, it's important for the permier division teams to have some sort of incentive to win matches - look at derry's recent run of form for example
