I have a Daewoo DVD/VCR combo, model DV6T844B. I found a hack to make it play all-region and ordered a DVD from amazon.co.uk to test it.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/glance/-/dvd/B000058A2L/202-6616140-7874262

It turns out the DVD is actually region 0, not region 2, but anyway...

The problem is, when I play it, it plays to the starting menu without any problem, but at the menu none of the options are highlighted. When I push the arrow up/down/left/right to try to highlight something, the little "no smoking" sign appears (meaning that button doesn't do anything).

I let a friend borrow it to try it on his player, and he said it worked on his. Has anyone heard of anything like this? Is it a PAL/NTSC problem? I thought I'd read that Daewoo players did that conversion automatically, but would that cause a problem like this anyway? I thought that would just make the picture look wrong (black and white and jumpy), but the picture seems to be fine (the background of the menu plays fine and shows di Canio juggling the ball and some clips).

    Thanks in advance.
