[BigSoccer News] La lesión de Riquelme genera preocupación

Hay escepticismo en los médicos que lo tratan, porque consideran que debiera ser operado ya y así se perdería el Mundial. Román prefiere esperar.

    -------Heinze----Samuel--------Ayala-------Zanetti

    --------------------Leo Franco---------------------

Well, its not a case of us "wanting" sorin is it? Pekerman is quite certain to hand the armband to him and you havent included him in your initial list of players for the 23 man squad.

There are quite a few things wrong with what you have picked there, Pekky has never played Heinze as a fullback in a 4 man backline, dont think he will play him there. (Although thats where he plays for his club). So if Heinze is fit, one of the centrebacks u mentioned will have to make way (likely to be Samuel).

Here is what I expect if a 4 man defense is fielded:

    **********************Pato***********************
    Pupi***********Ayala **********Heinze/Samuel******* Sorin
    ***********Mascherano/Demichellis
    *****************************Cambiasso***********
    ********************Riquelme***********************
    Maxi/Messi*******************************Tevez
    **********************Crespo**************************

We all tend to get carried away with how good Messi is, and I am a fan too, but you should remember the wealth of ammnition MAxi brings to the team, specially a high work rate means he helps the defence out as well, compared to Messi, which might get him the nod against teams like Ivory Coast

Maxi is on fire at the moment no doubt about it, but in my humble opinion you would have to be crazy to leave Messi out of the starting line up in Germany. He has to start.

Tru, your opinion aint humble at all, its very knowledgebale Leon. But maybe not against a team like Ivory Coast, we will need midfielders who does tracking back, and atleast 4 of them, if you know what I mean.

El Mono I would ove to see Aguero in the world cup squad, don't know if it will happen though.

    My team:-

-------------Lux (anyone but Pato basically, even I would be a better bet)---

    Zanneti------------Samuels----------Ayala--------------Heinz

    -------------------Marshareno-------Riquelme-------Cambiasso

    Messi----------------Crespo-----------------Tevez

Me parece que es un buen equipo este. Sin embargo, no entiendo porque no esta el Burrito en la banca auque sea para motivar a los pibes que estan empezando.

    Yeah, 'Jefecito'.

From what Pekerman is going to put on the field against Croatia, I'm guessing this is the definitive Argentine squad:

    Abbondanzieri

    Zanetti - Ayala - Heinze - Sorín

    Mascherano - Cambiasso

    Riquelme

    Messi

    Tévez - Crespo

It doesn't look THAT bad... Best team since Argentina '94, I dare say. Don't flame me.

If Messi can give us some width, this should be a dangerous team. But Zanetti and Sorin in this formation will have to stay back more than they did in Bielsa's system.

Pekky has actually announced he will go for an all out attack tommorow, and here is the lineup he has given to Ole

Pato, Coloccini, Burdisso, Samuel, Sorin, Demechelis, Cambiasso, Riquelme, Messi, Tevez, Crespo.

Romy apparently trained very well, and will start, but deffo not play 90 mins.
    Should be fun :D

Is anyone else worried about Pekky's fondness for Coloccini, or is it just me?

Meh... Coloccini is good. And he can play anywhere defensively: fullback, centerback and even as a defensive midfielder, in extreme circumstances. The only bad thing is that lately he's been letting his thuggery overcome him. I like his elegant side much better.

He needs to maintain his discipline, he's not going to be much use if he gets himself sent off.

this squad looks more like what i guessed for the WC squad in this thread's start, so what do u think of this now shaf Argentina. Anyway i think this is very good and balanced team when Ayala and Heinze will be back. Now as for this game today, common guys show the class difference beween us and the Croatians and also show S&M they don't stand a chanc against us.

That's the team I would go for, apart from the goalie who genuinely scares me.
