Who are the most promising up & comers on the Primavera squad? Also, which on them are on the youth national teams on their countries?
none that i'm aware of; that doesn't mean Juventus can't produce players, but rather that only outstanding talents get eventually drafted for the Prima Squadra. ther are plenty of good professional football players in serie A and B coming from the Juventus youth system that are/were just not good enough to play with the big boys; you can't fabricate a champion
The goalkeeper Bonnefoi has been called up for France U21. The defender Gastaldello has played for Italy U19. Don't know of any others. Also, Gasbarroni, Sculli and Brighi (all owned by Juve, the first 2 being former primavera players) have been called up for Italy U21.
Great, thanks. I just saw that Bonnefoi was called up. Thanks for help on the others. Who is the "biggest" name out of the existing Primavera squad?
I don't really know anything about any of them. I looked around on the figc webpage and found lists of players called up for the various teams.
I read in World Soccer today that Zeytulaev, the primavera midfielder from Uzbekistan, has made some appearances for them at the full national team level. I know Uzbekistan are a decent team in Asia, so he's certainly a player to keep an eye on.
Probably our best known/most promising youngsters include Marco Costantino (GK), Mario Kirev (GK), Vincenzo Camillieri (DF), Vittorio Ferrero (DF), Frederik Sørensen (DF), Marcel Buchel (MF), Filippo Boniperti (MF), Manuel Giandonato (MF), Leonardo Spinazzola (FW), Niccolò Giannetti (FW).
^^^ I'm not sure Kirev is still part of the squad. Luca Belcastro, who's an AM, is was one of the three players recently offered a professional contract. He's one of the ones to watch out for.
Luca Marrone (21, MD, ITALY, on loan at Siena) Saw him play a few times before and have been impressed. Saw him today in action for Italy U-21 team against Germany and was very impressed. A player who should be recalled to full squad, I am in much greater favour of promoting him to senior squad early than buying mediorce middies!
Marrone was/is considered one of the true gems of our primavera. He made a couple of substitute appearances for Juve last season. I'd love for him to be recalled from Siena. Carlo Pinsoglio, the goalkeeper, was another one our youth products. I didn't see the match, but apparently he made a couple of fantastic saves. Unfortunately, I think we sold him to a Serie C club.
I don't know much about Pinsoglio, personally. But, I do know we sold him and brought in some up-and-coming teenage goalkeeper from Samp in the offseason. So, I'm thinking he couldn't have been that good...
Read that Pinsoglio is at Viareggio either on loan or co-ownership. We haven't sold his full rights (yet).
Luca Marrone is a great player. I have seen him play a few time (once live), It's completely insane he was not kept. He better be on the roster next season.
Didn't we sign some young foreigner last year that is suppose to be something in the future? Isn't he on loan to a club in Switzerland?
I still think there was some kid from last year unless this one was made official this past January. Here you go ..... http://www.soccer-blogger.com/2011/01/24/laurentiu-branescu-signs-for-juventus/
Mario Kirev. He was on loan at Grasshoppers last season. Don't know what's happened to him since. I think he is technically part of the first team, but who knows. Branescu is going to be third choice next season, assuming that Gigi stays and Manninger is sold. Not bad for a 17 year-old.
Manniger is as good as gone, he's out on a free transfer and has already stated that he's going to either England or Germany.
Kirev was on loan at Grasshoppers two seasons ago, I thought. Last season, he was on loan at another swiss club, FC Thun 1898. From stats I've seen, he made no appearances. Seems wasteful... Do we still own though? I've heard nothing about him in like a year. The only young keepers I've heard of is Costantino and Branescu, both hyped for future greatness.
No, that's not certain. Manniger is certain. Buffon is up to his old tricks, and this time Juve are putting feelers out there to see what they can get. I don't blame them. If Juve gets a good enough offer I bet he's gone, and I won't shed a tear. There's still a good chance that he'll stay.
