From the LARS board posted by slidetackle: ...Three weeks before the 2004 season kicks off, the Galaxy and the Josers will be playing a match on Friday, March 12 @ 7:00pm...Place Harder Stadium, UCSB... Anyone else hear about this?
I'd feel bad for the Quack's if this was true. I mean, after playing at such a nice college stadium at UCSB, they'd still have to go home to Spartan "Stadium"
Harder Stadium is a very nice, simple facility (seats about 12,000), with an excellent playing surface. Other than an occasional fog bank rolling in, it's a nice place to watch a game. Did anyone happen to see that crap Bowl game between UCLA and Fresno State at Spartan. The field was completely thrashed, like it had been raining for weeks.....complete disaster.......
Supposedly it's being resodded as we speak. It was also a complete disaster for the pre-Libatadores tourney. A joke.
If this date gets confirmed, and we have a kick-off time, please post specifics. I am toying with taking Friday afternoon off and going up to SB for the game.
Hey guys, I am thinking about driving down with my friend & was wondering how we'd go about gettin tickets in advance? Is that possible or do we need to buy them on gameday?
Per the UCSB web site, Harder Stadium seats 17,000. I can't imagine that even with this pre-season "derby" that anybody needs to worry about getting tix in advance.
That figure of 17,000 seems pretty inflated to me, but it has been a few years (and many beers!)since I've seen it. For sure, it's at least 10-12,000...
Even if all the Bay Area Quake fans make the trip down, that still leaves 11,895 seats for the rest of us.
