    3-1 WIN!

    Scoring:

    Franks-1 (Woolard)
    Nyarko-1 (Plotkin)
    Nyarko-2 (Pope, Plotkin)

Mapp is already injuried with a forearm injury

Frankowski started and played the first 30 minutes, but no stats on him!

I remember going through this when Carr came in two years ago. Let's keep in mind that the guys were playing a bunch of high school age boys and the newbies should be able to do something against them and are probably the only ones really working hard to do that. Let's not get carried away on a scrimmage against the U-17s.

True but most of these kids get better training and coaching than most MLS teams do and most of these kids who actually pan out usually skip the MLS for Europe.

Hopefully there is video of Nyarkos game, I would like to see HOW he scored.

I remember Junior Agogo kicking some butt in his Fire preseason too.

    When was that? 2000?

The greatest ever pre-season for any Fire player was John Wolyneic back in 2002. I remember that he absolutely tore it up match after match in pre-season. He carried that momentum into the season opener and scored against C-bus. Of course, he got traded mere weeks after that to New York where he ended up having a decent career.

This was a game to get the guys accustomed to playing with each other--not to destroy a glorified high school team. I am sure there were some parameters established early on--neither Rolfe nor Barrett have anything to prove by scoring on a group of kids. I suppose we could look at this another way that as good as Nyarko was, Conde must have been just as bad. After all, the kids scored on a ball he gave away on a bad pass. That must indicate that Conde is horrible which we all know is not true. I hope Nyarko comes out of the gates screaming this year like we all do but I just don't think it makes much sense to get all loosey goosey just because he scored a couple of times against a group of kids. In addition, we have 37 players in camp and I don't think the U-17s have that many so by the end of the scrimmage (which is when we scored) I can imagine the U-17s were getting a little gassed which also probably detracts from any stardom coming out of this game.

Wow. Talk about fragile. Can we ship him out before he's totally deteriorated all his value? I found a box for the task...

Let's try to not put too much stock into someone scoring late in the game against a U-17 team, ok? Let's try to use a bit more common sense than that.

And who was in goal? Time to ship them off to some unsuspecting team for a useful allocation or gym bag.

Could be useful for depth. I believe he was hurt last year, but played in 50 games (48 starts) the two years before that.
