And that's a perfectly reasonable goal. The team is almost exactly the same as last year, but we all know not everyone played up to their potential, so there's real opportunity for young players to prove they deserve time.
Probably not that different. People would still not consider the preseason to be indicative of regular season success, so I figure there'd still be a lot of skepticism.

I remember several years ago someone had posted the preseason record against the MLS season record for several seasons worth of the results. Best guess on the author would be JazzyJ.

I could go back and try to find that, or I could look it up myself, but I am lazy and don't care. So your you are going to have to rely on my memory if you aren't willing to do the homework either! Or you can just discount it completely which is fine with me too.

I learned long ago that a game in which some or most of the players have no real incentive is a game not really worth watching. Preseason games fall into that category. That's also why I never pay $200 to see Messi in a glorified scrimmage.

In fact, the Quakes starters vs Crew 2nd team results may just reflect exactly that. 2nd teamers are playing with the incentive to impress the coach and move up the pecking order. Starters are playing to get some exercise, regain touch, and not get hurt. 2nd teamers will put in way more effort.

MN turned things around. They went from laughing stock to home playoff game. Mostly by adding better players. They even made some big mistakes and it still worked out ok.

They don’t even spend that much money.

They spent 100k less than the Quakes last season. If not for a slow start and some "iffy" officiating the Quakes _could_ have had a home playoff game.

Anyone know if Judson is injured? Didn't see him any of our preseason lineups, first team or second team

So the guy they got with the pick from Miami is showing up on the box scores for these games. Stuff like this is why it’s annoying when games are behind closed doors—no chance to really see these players fighting to earn a contract. I can wait patiently on the returning first team players. On the other hand I really like preseason games for guys we haven’t seen and the young players that might make a jump from their first year or two such as Haji or JT.

Great catch, and a good question. After all, other than the Alanis signing, the Judson and Espinoza permanent transfers were our only off-season deals that moved the marker at all, and if Judson isn't good to go that is concerning.

What we did in the off season didn't move the needle one centimeter. While the other teams were making deals we were spinning our wheels.

Is there any way to check and see if there are any local teams with those names? I'm wondering if we aren't getting our chain pulled. The only video is Quakes against Quakes. And Cracks de Futuro? That can't be real.

Cracks de futuro? Am I correct that it translates to future cracks? As in the slang term which means someone who’s good at soccer?

That sounds like we played a local developmental team.

Has anyone had that nightmare where you show up to class and the prof hands out an exam and you realize you didn’t study and you’re not prepared. Suddenly you wake up in a panic and you realize it was just a bad dream?

We were supposed to improve our team this offseason and we didn’t do anything. Toronto is coming in less than 3 weeks. Everybody should panic now - it’s not too soon at all.
