I'm really excited about this upcoming season. The guys have had some good time to gel and the roster hasn't changed dramatically since last season. I think the chemistry is there and we are going to have another great season.
Fire Lineup (4-4-2): GK-Henry Ring (D.J. Countess 31) (Matt Pickens 60), D-Leonard Griffin, D-Kelly Gray (Ronen Faigenbaum 46), D-Jim Curtin (Denny Clanton 46), D-Evan Whitfield (Ryan McGowan 46), M-Scott Buete (Khari Stephenson 46), M-Chris Armas (Craig Capano 46), M-Andy Williams (Ian Pilarski 46), M-Logan Pause (Sumed Ibrahim 46), F-Damani Ralph (Nate Jaqua 46), F-Ante Razov (Dipsy Selolwane 46). -Ring gave up both goals -Second goal was rebound off a penalty kick, which Ring initially saved. -Faigenbaum makes his debut. -CJ Brown and Orlando Perez, both recovering from injury only two on trip not to play this game.
Young Nasty Man Unfortunately, wonderboy is still recovering from an injury and won't be playing in any games.
when was the last time CJ was not hurt? What do you figure the over/under is on his number of games played this year. With Bocanegra gone, it's pretty important that we get him back.
No kidding. Here's a excerpt from the MLSnet match report. http://www.mlsnet.com/content/04/mls0224pre.html
No to put too fine a line here, but credit is due to the Fire staff for that report. Basically it is a(n uncredited) copy of the original Fire Press release; note the dateline and compare it to the release posted on the Fire site yesterday.
Anyone know anything about these Marinhense people? Is this an impressive win, or would it be like beating Puerto Rico's A-League team?
They are a high-level Portugese Segundo B team, or in other words Portugese Division III. I'd bet the competition level is somewhat akin to the A-League. I this the best opponent we have on this trip is Os Belenenses. They are Lisbon's third club behind Sporting and Benfica, and are in the lower half of the Portugese first division standings. They're in European competion fairly often, as I recall, though never doing real well.
