Appears today is a two-fer. Morning 60 min match v the US national team, 1-0 to the US. http://www.chicago-fire.com/pressbox/pressrelease/releasetext.asp?prID=1400 Ante and Armas played first half for us, second half for the US. Also noteworthy...the Samurai has returned. Fire Lineup (4-4-2) GK Matt Pickens (Leonard Zamora 31) DF Leonard Griffin DF Kelly Gray DF Jim Curtin DF Evan Whitfield MF Justin Mapp (Ryan Futagaki 49) MF Chris Armas (Sumed Ibrahim 31) MF Andy Williams (Ian Pilarski 42) MF Nate Jaqua FW Dipsy Selolwane FW Ante Razov (Scott Buete 31)
No, he's more of a central midfield but I hear he cann also play out wide. I suspect that Jaqua played wide in the first half and then moved up top in the second half while Buete played in the midfield. also: FUTAGAKI!!!!!!!!!!
Chilean I presume. 26 years old. The only clue that turned up was he played for Everton of Chile (el otro Everton) in '99. Make that 28 years old.
Leonard Zamora may also be Cristian Zamora. Info is real sketchy, servers with info are slow & crappy. Me thinks Zamora may be vacationing in Florida & getting a little work in. The FIRE need a body to play goal. Of course, the great FIRE PR machine will pull back the curtain.
The press release that announced the surgery gave no clue as to recovery time. They just said it was season ending. Anyone have any idea how long it takes to recover from labrum tear repair?
I think it was mention in a Fire press release, news article or by PW that Ring is still a few weeks(2-3) from full on contact.
Fire 2:2 U-17 Samurai with a goal and an assist... http://www.chicago-fire.com/pressbox/pressrelease/releasetext.asp?prID=1401
Well, let's hope that Pickens does this preseason what Tim Howard did at Man U. And what's the deal with the Samurai? Is he back on the team as a Dev or is he just picking up some game time to stay fit?
FU-TA! GA-KI! Awesome. Hope there's been a change where he can come back as a developmental player but otherwise hope this helps him find an A-League place. As for the strange names on the lineup sheet... Troy Perkins Was at the combine but I guess went undrafted. University of Evansville keeper with a 1.07 GAA this season. http://gopurpleaces.com/article.asp?articleid=51349 ---- Marco Valez/Velez (spelling seems to be inconsistent) If this is who I think it is, he's a Puerto Rican who played with the Minnesota Thunder and Seattle. 23 or 24.
