Finished 1-1. Pens finished 4-4. Apparently you only get five kicks no matter what. Braga tomorrow, if we win we win the tournament.

    2-1. Ba (pen), #RyanTaylorOverTheWall

Didn't get to see this one, saw Taylor's goal. Total class. Sounded like Marveaux, Sammy and Coloccini were really impressive.

Have these games been on TV? The only one I saw listed was the Fener game. And it was on a replay later in the week on GolTV as well.

    Thx,

    Jay!

Marveaux won the penalty. Ba took it, got blocked, then put the rebound in.

Our home game against the mackems was on one of the Fox channels Friday. Got to see Ba miss a penalty there again. Maybe he should just leave 'em to Shola.

    Thx,

    Jay!

I always like Marveaux. Excited to see him healthy and hopefully getting decent playing time this year.

Watching this thing with no commentary is bizarrely fascinating.

Apparently there's racist chanting coming from the fans. Wasn't paying attention but it's currently swallowing up the NUFC hashtag on twitter. Sad.

Late on, no score. We've had the three best chances, including Cisse header cleared off the line, Shola netting only to be (perhaps wrongly) ruled out for offside.

Full time. Blah. Hartlepool and Cardiff left to sort it out.

Well we beat Hartlepool 5-1 with goals from Shola, Marveaux (2), Haris Vuckic, and Obertan. Goals can be seen on this video, quality not the best:

Well we lost 4-1 to Cardiff today in our last pre-season game. Not exactly the best build up to the game with Spurs, but it would seem that Cisse, Ba, HBA and Cabaye all didn't play. Adam Campbell also got on late on for his first-team debut. Not really sure how much any pre-season game has ahead of the big kick off but obviously getting spanked by a Championship side isn't the best of preparations.

I'd probably agree with that for the most part, and I'm not going crazy and saying "everything's f**ked". Those two games weren't our last pre-season game though. I can kind of understand it if we have a lot of players who were just trying not to get injured. A lot of the players involved yesterday would be the kind of players we'll be playing in the Europa league, and with the way the injuries are going probably against Spurs. Hopefully its a wake up call.

Pardew is on the record saying the team, and himself, went into the game with an inflated sense of how the game would go and that it was a wake up call. He went onto to say he hoped the players used it to refocus for the next few games. Gotta say I admire the PR maven Pardew seems to be. His ability to seemingly say the right thing in the press is impressive. Now if that's the way it really is or how he and the team feel, he seems to know how to assuage the Toon Army.

We were without our top four attacking players. Doesn't excuse the defense but excuses (to a degree) only one goal.
