One thing that sticks out from the timing of these pre-season roundtable talks and the like, which is good stuff, is that all this is planned during this weeks global FIFA International window and specifically overlap when the U.S. and the rest of CONCACAF play on Thursday and Sunday. An event that occurs every four years. Perhaps schedule around these once every four year soccer games when one is in the soccer business. There is a watch party and planned Stadium event on Sunday but still, there are many Qualifiers all day these specific FIFA dates.
https://www.houstondynamofc.com/news/dynamo-to-open-feb-12-preseason-match-vs-austin-fc-to-fans The Saturday, February 12, preseason game with Austin will allow spectators. You need a ticket. Season ticket holders get them free. Others will need to buy a ticket. They went on sale today starting at $10. https://seatgeek.com/preseason-austin-fc-at-houston-dynamo-fc-tickets/mls/2022-02-12-6-pm/5626301 The game will also be streaming at HoustonDynamoFC.com/Live. The article notes that the scrimmage this Saturday, January 29, will not be open to the public.
The non-recap of Saturday's scrimmage: https://www.houstondynamofc.com/news/houston-dynamo-take-on-dynamo-dos-in-first-preseason-exhibition Nothing even worth quoting from the article.
Yeah, I don’t get it. On the one hand I get that the initial preseason scrimmage is meaningless, but on the other hand what an easy opportunity to throw some red meat to your fan base.
you play such games to evaluate player talent and roles, and help decide who is "1" vs "2." one year in junior high in select i got dropped to the B team where a group of about 4 guys who went on to be core A team (and HS alll district and college players) were at the time. we showed up angry and beat the stuffing out of the As 3-0 in the preseason tuneup before plano labor day. i was A team by mid-fall and the rest by either the winter or following spring. similar thing where my JV team gave the varsity fits (and beat them a few times) and we thought the varsity coach was an idiot for only giving us 2 years up and not churning the weak upperclassmen. if we can beat the varsity more than once why are we all here and they all there. to me you want to be open to whatever message the intramural game sends you. maybe a 2 player whoops the 1s. to the extent it seemed to convey we have 1 vs 2 sorted, that''s silly at this stage. now, i think closed door is wise, along those lines. my deal is more why announce a glorified practice scrimmage when with the long rosters i doubt there is any such thing as 1 or 2 yet. i assume they all practice together right now. if it's closed door and there is no 1 or 2 to speak of and no lineups or stats posted, why tack it on the schedule? that's a glorified 11 v 11 practice. when we took a day and had varsity play JV it wasn't announced......
February 2, 2022 Dynamo v. Real Salt Lake @ Tucson 12:00 pm CST This is apparently Houston's first preseason game after the scrimmage on January 29. RSL played Grand Canyon University in Tucson in their first action on Saturday but I don't see any recap of that so probably another scrimmage. I don't see any streaming information for Wednesday's game. That may change. The Dynamo twitter account is usually the best source for game info.
In case you don’t know: yes, there are cupholders. Safe-standing is now a thing ahead of the tenth anniversary of PNC Stadium! Hopefully they can start working on renovating the orange seats at some point. #HoldItDown https://t.co/hd9GFQv1Vu— Foxtrot (@DynamicFoxtrot) January 31, 2022 Closer look 👀 pic.twitter.com/gRzIAM48Vm— The Surge SG (@TheSurgeSG) January 31, 2022 Safe standing was introduced to the supporters yesterday. The new seats look good. They didn’t cheap out like in Dallas.
Per Dynamo release, Saturday’s game in Tucson against the Colorado Rapids will be streamed at https://t.co/zlkIiCM5Oo Local restrictions likely apply for the stream.— Dynamo Theory (@dynamotheory) January 31, 2022 2/3 so far on my prediction of which games get streamed.
Of course! Installed by January of 2022. Finally! The Houston Kop was planned and promised via our original President and GM Oliver Luck who had lived in Germany and new the importance of having a dedicated end, with safe standing culture in place. I am glad this plan has eventually been fulfilled!
Dynamo twitter says no streaming for today's preseason game. ℹ️ during Tucson, only our match on February 5th vs Colorado will be streamed.Updates for today and February 8th’s matches will be shared on social 📲— Houston Dynamo FC (@HoustonDynamo) February 2, 2022
Wednesday, February 2, 2022 Dynamo v. Real Salt Lake @ Tucson 12:00 pm CST Starting lineup: Baird, Clark, Dorsey, Ferreira, Lundkvist, Parker, Picault, Quintero, Rodriguez, Steres, Vera
Interesting. 4-2-3-1? Clark Dorsey-Steres-Parker-Lundkvist Rodriguez-Vera Picault-Quintero-Baird Fereirra
No Teenage or Jones in that Starting XI. That is notable. Also, Memito is deployed very deep in midfield along side Vera at his classic #6 role. Also notable.

i guess the good news there would be it looks like ferreira is through the immigration and transfer certificate hurdles. the new name that jumped out at me was Gitau who would be HGP, though with a couple mids out maybe that's just to cover numbers otherwise january is over and that's a tepid lineup, though, to be fair, sounds like some tinkering at 10, wing forward, wing back, perhaps marginal improvement i would assume pasher and ceren are out for WCQ and hadebe might be rested after AFCON
