LONDON, Nov 4 (SW) – The English FA Premier League has announced that a new high visibility yellow ball will make it’s debut in all Premiership games this weekend. http://www.soccerway.com/news/full/?page=details&area=1099581297
Amazing, the answer to a problem I didn't even know existed. I mean, come on, who really has problems with visibility? Can we have the opposition's best player wear neon yellow so that we can actually mark him?

Stupid, stupid, stupid. That manufacturers like Adidas and Nike have been able to con people for so long with all these "new" balls with "new" technology is just pathetic.
It may seem silly but it makes a noticeable difference, especially considering the preponderance of gray skies in England.
I don't know, I cracked open an old can of white tennis balls that I bought in a garage sale and played with them, visibility differences were minor.
Re: Premiership’s weekend games to debut yellow ball How dare you suggest that our weather is not sunny and hot all the time - I'm devastated, in fact im going to come outside my office and get you right now..(talking to self) bugger, now where did I put my umbrella....
Maybe that's why I hate this yellow ball - it's always sunny and 70 degrees (F) out here in San Diego...
I'm the only tennis player I know who hits the ball 30 feet straight up so perhaps you didn't get quite the right perspective needed. Also, no offence but I suspect that your tennis matches might not be played at the same pace as premiership football.
They actually had something about this on "Futbol Mundial" (or maybe EPL Preview, I forget), and they demo'd the balls against a grey sky. It was actually a noticeable difference. They've been using the "High-Vis" balls in the lower leagues for some time as the lighting is oftentimes inadequate. Not a problem in Prem stadiums, for sure, but it does make sense.
No offense taken, but I am a pretty fair tennis player and I do play with a trio of 5.0 - 5.5 players. I regularly return serves of 90-100mph. We play a lot of doubles, it's the only reason they play at my level, because I'm a good net player, and our ball is moving a lot faster than in the premiership.
So what happens when it's really sunny out and the sun is shining right down onto the pitch? Won't it be hard to pick out ANY ball in that case, let alone a bright ass yellow one?
Yeah I remember watching that too. I think they had some "professor" from America come in and explain the color differences. Then he dummied up to the camera and compared a green ball to the pitch and then to the sky, then did the same for a white ball. Thus they came up with yellow. Next time don't get some condescending ass to show the tv audience a simple visual example.
From what I understand, that happens twice a year and the odds that it will be on a Saturday are pretty slim.
Why dont you come play in some of my competitive matches and try and return serves over 100 miles an hour? A little faster than Birmingham on a counter-attack, I guarantee you that
