I hadn't heard about that till my significant other mentioned it to me this evening while I was cooking dinner. I thought she was just being Facebook loopy, etc .... but .. now that I see it in reality.... good god .... That is absolutely incredible. They should be made aware of their responsibility to the public with a 5 year stint. They are not there for no reason. They bear a (larger than the rest of us - and are well rewarded for this) social responsibility that is supposed to be fvcking borne not abdicated with dumped stocks......
anybody who was warned of this being likely to be what it is and did not speak and then dumped shares should walk this plank........ end of .....
https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...s/liverpool-set-smash-premier-league-17971728 At least someone reads my posts.
There's a growing number of dipshits (one of which is a former red) who want the season null and void. Not that I care what they want...
They simply don't realize the economic impact of that would more or less wipe out half the teams in england. But go ahead uninformed and agenda driven assholes. Keep spouting your blatantly tribalistic crap.
If the story re Premier League clubs having to return the tv money if the season is not completed is true then there's no way the clubs will allow this season to be abandoned. The financial cost would be too high, it's money many clubs no doubt depend upon to cover player contracts.
I think you're wrong there, Speke. The financial costs would be too high for the Premier League to sustain itself as it does sustain itself for the next couple of years.... However, there isn't an absolute need for players to be earning 100+K per week. (They weren't fifteen years ago. Their remuneration has way outstripped inflation, so it could be that for the next few years football players don;t make as much money as they would have expected. So, instead of Sadio making 140K a week next year, maybe he makes 70-80, etc ...)Instead of De Bruyne making 200k a week, maybe he makes 100... or 90... what exactly would these guys have to complain about?
That's not going to happen unless: a. they happen to be in the last year/close to end of their contract; or b. they take a voluntary pay cut. If there were to be a "new normal", it would take at least 3 or 4 years to flush through the system. In the meantime, there would be almost zero transfers of players on high earning contracts.
100% agreed. If we're talking about resuming going to the office, meeting friends in public, attending sporting events, etc. in the fall nobody will have a place to return. The economy will be destroyed and we'll be facing a ten year depression.
Apparently there is a test for antibodies now. For some reason the town of Telluride has enough to test the entire county.
Maybe its manufactured there? I wonder what the costs of this test is gonna be to produce per unit? It seems to me that governments will have to get behind producing and testing (costs) ... as each positive test is another person who can stop worrying about being either a conduit or getting sick.
This gives me some hope after having this sick feeling that something drastic and horrible is on the horizon (in the football world)... https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2020/03/28/report-premier-league-games-to-be-played-starting-july/
Just read this which if true is clearly a massive incentive for the league to finish this season. The Premier League faces losses of £1.2billion if the season is cancelled, compared to £169million if games are played behind closed doors...
As soon as they can figure out if it is safe to play, they will do so. That might not be until June - but so be it. The few loudmouths that are talking about voiding the season don't seem to want to exercise any logic (agendas of course) and don't seem to understand that the amount of litigation from numerous teams, broadcasters (around the world), etc. could cripple the league for a decade. There would even be a chance that a "replayed" season would be enjoined by a court.
Playing nine games should be achievable in 5 weeks - a match every 4 days. Not terribly trying on the players, especially after they've had a little break. Replays should be scrapped, I agree on that front. With FIFA insistent on a winter world cup in 2022, should the European leagues be thinking long-term and taking this as the opportunity to make the move to a calendar year season? July-August 2020 - all leagues finish by Aug 31 Sept/Oct 2020 - have this period become an offseason. Nov 2020 - players report for training camps Dec. 2020 - October 2021 - new league season with a one-month break for Euro 2021 Nov/Dec 2021 - offseason Jan - Oct 2022 - new league season Nov-Dec 2022 - World Cup Qatar and offseason
