So this is his last home game in the EPL, does he end it with a strong lineup? does he put in the players that need tick? or does he put youth out to show the future and the philosophy of this club? Obviously I'd like the last one and I wouln't be surprised to see a couple of players there. Lineup: Lindegaard Rafael Smalling Evans Buttner Nani Cleverley Anderson Larnel Cole/Tunnicliffe (put Cleverley on the right) Powell Welbeck Subs: Januzaj (if he comes back from that tournament in time), Petrucci (if fit), Tom Thorpe, Vermijl, Rooney (last home game farewell), Jones, De Gea. I am having a laugh I know.
Glad you know that. Last home game of his almost 30 year stay at the club? Best believe we'll see a strong starting lineup. Of course, I have been wrong about many things in the past but I just can't see how he doesn't play a strong lineup, at least from the beginning, in this one.
The sentimental XI: --------------De Gea Rafael--Ferdinand--Vidic--Evra Nani--Scholes--Carrick--Giggs -------------Rooney -------------Cheech Bring on Evans, Valencia and Welbeck at some point. Think that gives us everyone who has made the most appearances under Fergie, barring Fletcher a run-out. Alternatively, go for the kill, play whatever he thinks is the strongest side, and win 7-0.
I am getting some mates to get me a program and ship it over ...If I didn't just get back I would have flown over for it.
Really hope OT gives him the sendoff he deserves. Swansea have cooled a bit since locking up their season but it could still be a lively match. Go strong. Maybe 1-2 kids off the bench for sentimental purposes. But let's win.
Is the trophy handed out this weekend? If so, last match at OT for Fergie plus the trophy presentation. It is going to be very emotional.
Howard Nurse @howardnurse Re: my Paul Scholes tweet 10 minutes ago... Mail and Times saying the same now ... that he'll play Sunday and also announce retirement. Typical Scholesy. All attention on SAF and Moyes taking over and just go out quietly. Not surprised, but still ..
Same. Was hoping earlier that we give kids a run, but i suspect a strongest lineup now. Just hope we win the last 2 games. Though if we wants to showcase future players before bowing out, that would be awesome too.
If so, play Valencia at RB in the Sentimental XI. Ando (who I'd forgotton about) can be one of the subs to come on instead.
Also Scholes will start this match and retire afterwards, nice that he'll get to end with Fergie lifting the Premier League trophy one final time.
