Agreed. You have to say though, we were by no means outclassed in that tie, which is what many here were saying after the draw. People keep saying this year after year. Even last season, we lost the title to a last minute, injury time goal. Yet nobody is out there saying City won "by default" because we dropped an 8 pt lead. We're flawed and I don't get why Fergie doesn't sign that much-needed creative midfielder anymore than anyone else. However, he's never been a tactical genius, he's alwaus played favourites and his greatest ability as a coach is and always has been, his capacity for fostering mental strength and pushing players to their best. I dispute that we're looking up at City and Chelsea. We're looking up at Barca, Bayern and Madrid. All this talk of not being a "vintage United" is overstated. We're about two players away. The trouble is, we're two elite players away. However, now that even the British tabloids have noticed our midfield deficiencies, Fergie might actually act on it.
