No, he won't be back. Already Payne is thinking of Ray's replacement.

    Reeowww!

I'm leaning towards the "yes" camp...yes in that he'll back...in DC coaching United. And we'll continue to barely achieve mediocrity.

I'll jump on the bandwagon and say Ray will not be back next year.

wow. i'm amazed how many people don't think he will be back. I too would be glad to see him head to the broadcast booth (as I stated last June) but I think Ray will be back in 04...

    I think he WILL return.

Which means that (much like my answers to any math question) the exact opposite will occur...

Hudson will be fired by next Monday. :D

Do I THINK he'll be back? NO
Do I WANT him back? To be honest, I really have mixed feelings on that.

Freddy Adu said he hopes Uncle Ray is back next year. You wouldn't want to hurt Freddy's feelings would you?
What Freddy wants, Freddy gets. :)

Someone I agree with around here.

I do think Payne will get rid of him but I have mixed feelings about wither or not he should be back. It all depends on how much influence Payne had on the inclusion of Etch this season.

I doubt we will ever know the true story about the decision to keep Etch this season, but there is a lot of informed speculation that he was retained, perhaps against Hudson's wishes, because it was thought that he put fans in the stands. Now we have Freddy, and with all the publicity surrounding his signing it is clear that he will be expected to put fans in the stands next season. Will they come back if Freddy is glued to the pine, as a 15-year old should be? I don't think MLS and/or Payne would stand for it, whatever the long-term effect on Freddy. Consequently, next year's coach, like this year's, may be hired with the stipulation that he plays someone he really would rather not put out on the field. Add this to the lamentable practice field situation and it should give anyone, even Hudson, pause.

Can somebody please explain the concept of a two-year contract with a one-year option to sormun?

Yeah, but with polls you can't tell who thinks what. As far as I could see those who thought he'd be back were generally those folks that either want Ray gone so badly that they're just preparing for the worst by predicting he'll be back (I'm probably in this camp) or they really think Ray deserves another year.

    The final "voice" tally ...

    Yes
    11111111111111 - 14

    No
    11111111111111111111111 - 23

    And threads merged.

No, but at the same time I can't think of a decent replacement.
