He came closer to winning the Ballon d'Or than Michael Laudrup. Yet you never ever see his name mentioned anywhere these days. In fact, i'm willing to bet most football under 30 have never heard of him....real shame imo.
Well, you would have to ask ppl outside Denmark that question, but I would think he is probably well known in Italy ?... and perhaps they also remember him in the rest of Scandinavia..... He is probably the best genuine striker Denmark ever had. .
