It's not really shocking. Increase in games, increase in travel, condensed intense pre-season; expected outcome.
Terrible news, but he's very young and should be able to fully recover soon enough. It's sad that this will set his career back a little, but if he is good enough, he'll make it regardless.

I feel horrible for Joan, I also really hope this is yet another sign screaming for Pérez to bring in another centerback.
ACLs are now part of football. Is what it is. Until the amount of games are played in a season (youth levels should play even less) then nothing will change.

He is only 16 years old but he is already mentally prepared to recover.— @GuillermoRai_ pic.twitter.com/gdC72zah0p— Madrid Universal (@MadridUniversal) August 9, 2024
Pintus method needs some adaptation. Too many of these types of injuries the last two seasons. Those injuries are mainly about fatigue
Finally someone with sense; the players are already match fit except for those who missed the summer tournaments. And is our turf 100% natural or some hybrid?
The mental aspect of those injuries for the young players is the worst part of it. They've yet to become professionals, earn good money, they sort of see their dream melt away in front of their eyes. The wrong mental approach can develop huge phobias and trust issues. That's what i consider the an issue with Vallejo.
Our turf is not hybrid whether it's Valdebebas or Bernabéu. And these academy kids who had ACLs never played at Bernabéu anyways. Utd fans were blaming US turfs for injuries to Yoro and Holjund. Btw ACL injuries have become a lot more common in recent years. Scalvini had ACL in June playing last match of the season and Scamacca had ACL in pre-season. Atalanta must be wondering why two in such a short gap. From 2009-2023, RM only had 2 ACL injuries if I remember correctly. Pepe in 2009 and Jese in 2014. From 2023 pre-season, 6 ACLs for men's team and women's team had two players with ACL too. Maybe training staff everywhere should take into consideration that players hardly get any rest and adapt methods that way.

It was a contact injury for Joan, but not from a hard tackle. Palacios ACL was from a hard tackle iirc. "It was a bad luck incident after a clash with another teammate, but nothing like a hard tackle or anything similar." No. Fue una acción de mala suerte tras un lance con otro compañero, pero nada tipo una entrada dura o algo similar.— Mario Cortegana (@MarioCortegana) August 10, 2024
Poor kid, feel terrible for him. But he seems mentally strong and the club will make sure he'll get everything he needs to make full recovery. Still, so damn shitty for him after having such a good time with the first team. Wishing him all the best!
Good news is that Joan's meniscus and lateral ligaments are not affected. Calafiori at 17 had those affected too and he was out for 300 days. Boniface had two ACLs at 17 and 19. Overcame all that when he was in Norwegian league.

Not a good look that it was Endrick. That kid plays too violently and it could be a problem for us in future if we can't get him to curb all that
Yea, I thought of the bad Endrick tackles complication from Brazil hector had shared as well. Hope he calms down.
