    Is Oregon State really going to be that good this year? Their HC left after the College Cup run. Also means Washington opens the first week playing #22 and #4, #23 in Week 3, and then #11 the second to last week, all in non-con play. I do think last year was an aberration and we'll get back on track this year.

    AE looking interesting this year, coaches poll has Vermont higher than UNH but the Coaches Poll has it the other way. Will be an interesting conference to watch.

    The polls are just mainly a repeat of where teams finished last season. There is no thought on who graduated, transferred, or was recruited. Not like college football or basketball where someone evaluates each team. This year's starting point is last year's ending point.

    I mean, if the folks doing the poll can't even be bothered to do a good one, hard to convince the public to give a shit.

    I know it doesn't officially count because it's an exhibition, but #8 Marshall gets the 3-1 win at #2 Notre Dame this evening.

    Still not used to SMU, Cal and Stanford in the ACC.

    Hell, I'm still not used to Syracuse, BC, Pitt, Notre Dame and Louisville in the ACC!

    I remember Georgia Tech joining when I was a kid. The idea of a school suddenly joining an established conference just seemed so alien to my young, naive self.

    Yes sir, GaTech was the new member when I arrived at NC State in 1983. They did not have a swim team back then, so I never competed against them.
    One of my favorite Associate ADs at NC State was Mr. Frank Weedon, a walking history of the ACC and NC State, a former Sports Information Director at NC State, still had serious contempt for South Carolina because they left the ACC in the early 1970s.
