This thread will trace the Irish in Britain through to the start of the season in August. However, please continue to post any transfer news/rumours in the Summer Transfers thread.

This weekend, Finnan and Potter played for Liverpool in their 4-3 win over Wrexham. They both combined down the right to supply the cross for Morientes' opening goal. Potter came off at half time, and Finnan played 60 minutes.

Robbie Keane and Mark Yeates played fhe first half for Spurs in their 3-0 win at Stevenage Borough. Bad news for Robbie is that Spurs' three other strikers got the goals (Kanoute, Defoe and Mido). Kelly and Reid played the second half.

Sunderland are off to Vancouver tomorrow, and Elliott and new signing Daryl Murphy will be on the plane. Gary Breen has a slight injury and will remain in England.

Reading open their pre-season campaign Wednesday night at Staines Town (?), and new signings Graham Stack, Stephen Hunt and Kevin Doyle are all expected to feature.

Duff scored for Chelsea in a 5-1 win.

Finnan played the full match for Liverpool, and Potter was taken off for Cisse in the second half. I wasn't too impressed with either to be honest, but they'll only get better as their fitness improves.

Michael Timlin scored for Fulham in a friendly in Austria.

Finnan and Potter again start for Liverpool v TNS in Wrexham.

I think both played full matches. Potter won Liverpool a penalty. Apparantly, the TNS goalkeeper, Gerard Doherty, was brilliant - saving a penalty. I read somewhere he has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at youth level. He's from Derry.

McShane and O'Shea played for Man Utd in the second half vs Peterborough. United scored 6 goals in that half, so they could hardly have been poor. Roy Keane was injured, Miller played no part.

Kilbane played for Everton in Thailand, and scored his penalty (though Everton went on to lose the shootout).

McGeady played for Celtic yesterday vs Leicester, and apparantly was fairly quiet (marked well by Alan Maybury). Paddy McCarthy was solid.

    Celtic v Leeds:
McGeady starts, Darren O'Dea is on the bench. Gary Kelly and Paul Butler start for Leeds.

Lyon 1-3 Spurs - Two goals from man of the match Robbie Keane. He ends up being the top scorer in the Peace Cup. Kelly's shot resulted in the first goal (deflected for an own goal), and Andy Reid also started.

I'm liking Jol less and less. I fear that even if Robbie proves that he's worth his place in the Spurs starting XI, he'll continue to play Defoe in the big matches, leaving Robbie short of match practice going into the autumn qualifyers.

Alan Sheehan starts at left back for Leicester City tonight as they host Inter Milan. McCarthy and Maybury are on the bench.

If that wasn't an under-handed comment from Jol I don't know what was. I really hope someone makes a move for Robbie and he moves on, cos he's never going to get any respect at Spurs it seems.

Potter starts again for Liverpool in the Champions League. Sounds as though he's had an all right first half. Finnan misses out through illness.

    Lots of action today.
Miller played the second half in Man Utd's 2-0 win in Japan. Back in England, Roy Keane played for a United XI who beat Walsall.
Clinton Morrison scored for Birmingham in a 2-1 loss.
Andy Reid and Kelly played for Spurs in a 2-0 win over Reading, for whom Hunt and Doyle started. Robbie Keane played no part.
Stephen Reid scored for Blackburn today.
Alan Mahon did likewise for Wigan.
