Napoli details confirmed Filed: Tuesday, 16th June 2009 By: Staff Writer West Ham have confirmed ticket details for August's Bobby Moore Cup clash with Napoli. The Hammers face the Serie A outfit at the Boleyn Ground on Saturday 8th August, a week ahead of the 2009/10 Premier League season kick-off. The club have confimed that tickets for the game are available in advance from the ticket office at £10-15 for season ticket holders (£5 for under 16s) whilst academy members will pay £13-20 (£5 again for under 16s). Advance tickets for non season ticket holders are priced at £16-25 for adults, £6.50-10 for senior citizens and £5 for under 16s. However those hoping to pay on the door will have to fork out between £20-35, with senior citizen and under 16 rates as before. Season ticket holders can apply for tickets from Tuesday 7th July, Academy members from Wednesday 15th July and everyone else from Tuesday, 18th July. A brief history of the (new) Bobby Moore Cup 2008 vs Villareal: 1-1 (Trophy shared) Alan Curbishley's side made a dream start when Cole finished an incisive move started by Matthew Upson. Villarreal equalised nine minutes ahead of the break through Cazorla, who played a neat (headed) one-two before firing past Rob Green from an acute angle. The Hammers thought they had snatched a late winner, however Sears' effort was ruled out for offside; a marginal but probably correct decision.
Pretty decent actually. We were generally enjoyable to watch and had some nice passing. If we didn't lose our top three strikers, we would have qualified for the Europa cup, which we just missed out on. Our defense was the best oustside the top four as well, but this is from Steve Clarke's influence.
I'll be at this game and I'm looking forward to it, there are loads of Napoli supporters going to be at Upton Park Line up? Not sure possibly Green Spector/Faubert Tomkins Upson Ilunga Noble Parker Collison Stanislas Jiminez Cole We should be OK but we must get in at least one other striker, preferably two. EDIT: Here's an article on the build up to the game. I forgot about Dyer so I guess he'll be playing instead of Stanislas. http://www.whufc.com/page/News/0,,12562~1746663,00.html
so I've paid my 1.99 to watch on the offishal site and all I get when I click the game is "URL Invalid". Ah, another wonderful experience interacting with the west ham brand. so now I'm watching the italian stream... Unhappy In Toronto
This is my stream: http://livefooty.doctor-serv.com/sat8.8/WestHam_Napoli.html Is your's any better Woodcroft?
i can't get your stream to open mate... don't know if it's because i'm on a mac (but don't think so)... mine is http://www.paurepensieri.com/tv_digitale_1.html but it's in italian
i would like to see a little more effort from everyone (I know it's a friendly but the season is only a week away and we look lethargic already)
so..um... where are the goals going to come from this season? Given what I know of CC and what I've seen so far (albeit limited) of Jimenez Cricket (thanks Blaine) I just don't see them two getting it done. And we don't have prolific midfield scoring... ! I'm trying to be positive (hey, were undefeated in the league so far) but I have a bad feeling about the upcoming season... Thank god it's now lunch time, I need a pint.
I thought we actually looked quite lively, moreso after their goal went in. Even Faubert looked an improved player. Or maybe I am just not used seeing some pace at RB. Jiminz came out with a few fancy moves. We need both him and Dyer to turn midfield possession into attacks.
This was a very good game for West Ham to play in, strong opposition who were up for it. Maybe a bit too up for it as the game went on but I thought our overall display was good and at least we creating chances. We needed to be more decisive when we were in the box or on the edge of it. The Napoli goal was a little lucky, it really just rebounded off the strikers head and looped into the goal. A draw would have been a fair result. Faubert had a good game at RB, I think he'll be getting the starting spot next wek especially as Spector will be on another continent midweek. Spector came on second half and was fine but I think Zola may be favouring Faubert. Cole was up front alone but linked up nicely with Jimenez. We didn't have any out and out wide men but Dyer and Jimenez the widest of the midfield. Illunga got involved in several overlaps and played well. I think we all know we need another striker and the club are working on it. Napoli fans were there in their thousands and made a huge amount of noise all game, they were the best away support I've seen at UP.
