The venue, with a seating capacity of 48,712 spectators, has been the home of French football club Paris Saint-Germain since 1973 The current Parc des Princes was inaugurated on 4 June 1972, endowed with a very avant-garde architecture for the period. Comfort and visibility were the key words of project architects Roger Taillibert andSiavash Teimouri. PSG became the resident club of the new stadium in June 1973 and its image and history has since been associated to Le Parc. Named after the Monarch's hunting grounds that it sits on, it was initially opened as a multi-purpose venue on 18 July 1897. The Parc des Princes is the third largest football stadium in France. Originally a velodrome, it was the finish line of the Tour de France from the first event in 1903 until General Charles de Gaulle ordered the track demolished in the late 1960s. He decided in 1967 that the Parc des Princes should be dedicated to football and rugby games with a capacity of under 60,000 seats. The Parc des Princes was thenational stadium of the France football team and the France rugby union team until the construction of the Stade de France for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. The stadium and grounds are owned by the Paris city council and the Société d’Exploitation Sports-Evénements (SESE) holds the concession to the Parc des Princes since 1990. I went and saw DC United play them last night. They are much better organized now under Ancelotti than they used to be; but that cohesion faded away in the last ten minutes of the first half. They are still very much a work in progress.

For this match, Tito will have 17 first team players available for selection in addition to players from the B team... Valdés y PintoPuyol*, Alves, Piqué, Mascherano, Adriano y BartraBusquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc y Jonathan dos SantosMessi, Alexis, Pedro y Afellay. Puyol , has been given the medical green light and is also available for selction... Jordi Alba, Tello and Montoya will be back on the 2nd of August, just two days before this match so they might not be included in the squad. It is estimated that David Villa will get the medical clearance by the time for the match against Manchester United on the 8th of August in Göteborg. possibly planas. will montoya be in the squad? he played a few minutes at LB at the end of last season.
Montoya's just coming back from the Olympics, don't think he'll be involved for this game. Same for Alba and Tello. Puyol, Alves, Bartra, and JdS can all play in the fullback positions, I think we'll be fine there for this. Just hope that Tito doesn't experiment with that 3-4-3 or at least not yet. We need Alba and Alves both together for that, in my opinion. ValdesAlves Mascherano Pique PuyolIniesta Jonathan AfellayAlexis Messi Pedro I wouldn't mind playing that team from the start.
The squad list for the match against PSG: Valdés, PintoAlves, Piqué, Puyol, Mascherano, Bartra, Montoya, Planas, IllieCesc, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Jonathan dos Santos, Sergi Roberto, RafinhaAlexis, Messi, Pedro, Afellay, Tello Alba, Villa and Adriano aren't in the squad. Éric Abidal will accompany the team to Paris Link in Spanish
montoya and planas are both in the squad, so no need to risk puyol, who only got his medical green light a few days ago. i think bartra and dos santos both need significant minutes in this match to test them out before possibly signing new players in their positions. i'd also like a good long look at afellay. 1st half: alexis----------messi----------pedro ------------afellay---xavi------------- montoya--------JDS------------dani ------------masch---bartra----------- ------------------valdes---------------- 2nd half: tello------------cesc-----------afellay -------s.roberto----iniesta------------ planas--------JDS----------montoya ----------pique----bartra-------------- ----------------pinto---------------------
I agree that we do not need to see Puyol at LB so early in the season, just back medically, etc. but I absolutely want to see Bartra play (you know just in case we do not get a CB or are still weighing whether to do so), so maybe an Alves-Pique-Masch-Bartra D line? One where Alves goes forward essentially leaving 3 CBs plus Sergi B or JDS to defend. I think that is what I want see and what we will see.

Rafinha scores for the first time for the first team, 0-1. On a side note, sorry but it's going to be really hard to like this kit. I'll try to give it a chance but it's just so awful.
