I heard a rumor that Barca will be practicing on Friday morning at the Kezar stadium in SF. Any other Bay Area people hear about this?

Got this off the Quakes Season Ticket email list:

This Friday August 7, 2009 at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco at 9:00 AM the stars will be out! All fans are welcome; there will be a small donation at the practice field to the Earthquakes Community Fund to watch FC Barcelona training session.

Yeah, I am actually home Friday mornings, alternating between being at my son's coop nursery or home with the little girl, this Friday I am home with the girl, Serena, nearly 16 months old. She's actually never "skipped" her morning nap but I think I'll head over with a big stroller that she can possibly sleep in if she is not thoroughly entranced by Barca. Worst case she'll have a late nap on my watch or an early and/or massive nap for my wife in the afternoon.

there seems to be conflicting reports about the practice.
SF parks and rec is selling tixs to the practice (charity event) + brunch afterwards for $150 and up. I called today and asked if the team would be at the brunch, and the lady told me that they were not sure and could not guarantee it.
She also said that the practice was private, and limited to 200.
I then heard on the spanish radio station that the practice was in fact open to the public (like the sj email) and are just asking for donations.

Dont know what's up.....either way I'll be there with my bro and his son early fri ready to hunt them down....MUST GET MESSI'S AUTO!!!

I think I'll be there too. I'll be in all-black shorts and tights + baseball hat. And probably yawning a lot.

I called and the women there said there is no guarantee that the players will come over to you and sign or even say hello, but you will be eating inside in the stand while they practice.....not sure if it's worth it...

Is Iniesta's nagging injury still the same muscle tear from May?

yeah, something is up. By no means is $150 a "small" donation. Maybe they can sit closer than the general public? And I doubt people are rushing to pay that amount for practice, especially considering how little press this practice has gotten.

We'll find out tomorrow what the deal is. Gonna have my messi jersey and ball ready to go.

VEB, I think the name has officially changed back to Candlestick Park. Or is it Bill Walsh Field. I dunno. I can't keep up.

As an aside, Monster does not refer to the website nor the energy drink, but to Monster Cable, whose products are well known to home theater enthusiasts and cars with giant subwoofers.

it's not sponsored by the earthquakes it's a park and rec thing....not sure what's going on though if the $150 ticket is worth it.

The Monster refers to Monster.com, it's a high-tech jobs listing site where you can post your resumes and stuff.

naw, the monster refers to the home theater cables, etc.
    It's back to it's old name....candlestick park
$150 is too much for a practice, IMO, especially if there is no guarantee about interacting with the team. If they would guarantee that, I would have no problem paying the 150.

I thought so at first, too. But it is for the cable manufacturing company.

Incidentally, I found my first job testing video games through monster.com... Love 'em!

Sounds good, hopefully we can get in as Kezar sure holds many more than 150 people. I think I will actually be wearing my little girl in a maroon carrier (instead of stroller), older Barca jersey with no number and jeans.

tip for you guys going to the game

You can find parking near Piccolo Pete...it's a sandwich spot on bayshore....from there, it's a 10 min walk to the stadium...nice, safe route (NOT thru hunter's point).
Gonna walk to the game since I live a few blocks from there

I'd like to goto the game but don't really wanna spend a lot, which section should I go for, also I'd like to be in the NON CHIVAS section so I don't get my ass kicked when BARCA walks all over them :)
Craigslist still has a lot of tickets for sale....

    thanks in advance....

here's a 3d seating chart. Best way to figure out seat views, especially if you're buying tixs thru CL. I suspect the stadium will be heavily chivas, so I dont think that will matter...no way to escape them
