If we don't start scoring it might be earlier than that.

Not DC United, but a harbinger of things to come:

What to expect as Nationals Park reopens for fans this season

“Cash will no longer be accepted, several popular concession stands and gathering places will be closed until further notice, and eating and drinking on the concourse will be prohibited.”

    More draconian bag policies...

“To limit contact between guests and ballpark workers, cash will not be accepted at any parking, ticketing, retail or concession locations inside Nationals Park, except to purchase tickets for the 50/50 raffle. Fans who only have cash for other items may exchange it for eCash that may be used throughout the ballpark at the advance ticket sales booth, the Budweiser Terrace or at guest services by Section 131.”

    Thx,

    Jay!

draconian cash policies as well, no one to my knowledge has caught Covid by exchanging money.

I'm almost certain people in close proximity have passed the virus on while engaged in other benign activities. The trick is to eliminate the proximity by removing the benign activity.

I pay with cash. I never hand it to the clerk I place it on the counter. Problem solved.

Gotta still take cash for those 50/50 raffle tickets though so they must know it's not dangerous enough to curb that need, or they've decided those are apparently worth "risking people's lives" for

Some of the virus theater stuff is as frustrating as the security theater stuff, like they sit around and think of worthless ways to look like maybe they care; taking temperatures is my favorite completely useless activity, if anything making transmission more likely by causing lines and back-ups to get in places. If they cared, they'd not worry about sports at all, it seems like a pretty risky venture by those forced to play. We could probably do just fine without being entertained for a little longer.

Touch less makes sense and is only a burden on a very small group of people who choose the burden. It should be incentivized. LAFC offers a discount on tokenized payments as it likely lowers the overall costs of business. Less fraud, credit issues, or cash shortfalls at the end of the evening.

I digress but the gubmint (LE and tax entities among others) LOVES the non-cash options because bank/processing records last forever and are easily obtainable.

but paying with a card takes just as long and requires the same proximity as paying with paper.....

the burden of cash handling is not on the payer but on the payee; cash actually costs more than electronic payments to process.

oh well, it is fait accompli....

I don't really give a shit about the whole cashless thing, as long as the card reader things actually work, which at our new stadium, has been an issue. I'll have to figure out training my littles to use cashless payment methods when they want shit in the middle of the half after I've already offered them the sun/moon/stars pregame/halftime since there is no in seat delivery of concessions like many other sports venues.

I am more than willing to pay a higher price to be able to pay with cash.

I am unwilling to miss a moment of playing time so unless I arrive early (and hungry) I have to purchase any food and drink at halftime. Unfortunately, the concession area is usually too crowded to make it back to my seat in time for the second half kickoff. My suggestion to management: extend halftime by ten minutes or so - you will see a big uptick in concession sales.

Yeah, pre-pandemic I was annoyed that not all of the beer guys would take credit cards. I was phasing out cash use before all this happened. Now, I’m starting to get annoyed at places where I still have to use a physical credit card, rather than just being able to Apple Pay with my phone.

in DC, even the weed delivery service guys accept Apple Pay.

DC vs NYCFC from the Philthy (Chester) Union training ground was earlier today. First half ended 1-1. Goals from Castellano and then quickly equalized by Smith. NYC also scored from a corner in the 51st minute and won the match 2-1. I believe there is a another match this coming weekend against FTRB at FTRB stadium.

Not sure if that will be streamed.

Got my time slot tomorrow for ticket purchases to the home opener. I'm hoping to buy the maximum number, but need at least three for me and the guys I usually go with. Here's hoping.

If you don't mind me asking, how long have you had your season tickets? I'm class of 2000 and my purchase window is set for Wednesday.

Keep in mind your ticket spend also factors into the calculus here.
