I know it's not the next game up, but it looks like the fish will once again be absent at Invesco... http://www.mlsnet.com/content/03/mls0619discipline.html
I watched the LA v NY and was very dissipointed in the Galaxy and network broadcast team. The "support" for Ruis is disgusting. The guy is a dirty player. Always has been. Absolutly, my LEAST favorite player in MLS. The way Winalda and Ty kept calling the act by Ruis "unfortunite" was sick. I understand the guy was the goal leader last year, and the MLS has to hype it's assets, but the broadcast was over kill. He broke the guy's eye socket for @#$k's sake. And Jones having "20" on his armband was the same stupidity. I hope the Rapids distroy Galaxy. What's Tallys #? Opposing teams can put that on their captian's armband when playing LA. The fish has got to go!!! I hate the fish!!!
why did we get such a terrible schedule... yesterday, wed, sat, fri, wed, sat !! some teams do not have to have 5 weds!! one team has 2. we will have had three added weds in a month june 11-july 9th
I think his play is ugly, but What did he do? I didn't read about it. Next, what is the 20 on Cobi's arm band for? In reference to?
Ruiz went up for a header against Carey Talley (KC) and threw his right elbow at the guy's face. Talley ended up with a broken orbital bone (eye socket). It does look intentional in slo-mo replay, but happens so fast that I can see how the official missed it. Still, the MLS gurus reviewed the tape and handed down a decision -- $1000 fine and two-game suspension (yesterday's was the first, this Wed at Invesco is the second). Ruiz's number is #20, so my guess is that putting it on the armband is their little way of protesting the decision. The ESPN2 crew yesterday mentioned that some in the Galaxy were concerned that Ruiz might not come back... apparently, he feels "picked on". Having him not come back might be better for the league, given his tendency toward diving, whining, and hacking... but I digress.
Pablo I know I'm getting a little ahead of the game here, but does anyone know if Pablo (and the rest of the boys abroad) will be back and ready for this weekend's games? Will Pablo play on Saturday against the Revs?
http://www.rapidsfan.com has the injury report for tomorrow night's game. Looks like we may only have 4 defenders available to us, Hart, Borchers, Crawford and Kotschau.
Starting Line Up I think we'll have just enough to beat the Galaxy by a score of 2-1. D - Crawford, Kotch, Bourchers, Hart M - Chung, Trembly, Beckerman, Kingsley F - CC & Spenny IMO - if Rizo is recovered from his injury, he should start at left back instead of Crawford.
"IMO - if Rizo is recovered from his injury, he should start at left back instead of Crawford." I agree, Crawford was schooled again in the Dallas game. LA is having almost as much trouble scoring as the Rapids, but the makeshift defense they will be seeing might change that. I see Ezra and Cobi running the wings at will, making many dangerous crosses. If Nat has a great game, we may tie (1-1)otherwise it's a 2 or 3-1 loss.
According to the Post, Mastro is supposed to be available to play in tonight's game. Does he start and if so, who does gets the boot?
To Pimp Greenie's Rapidsfan.com, I agree with his assessment of the Dallas game that getting the midfield to put pressure on the ball and maintain some possession is crucial. The Rapids can go for long spans in a game of reacting to the other teams possession and not being able to create turnovers and keep the ball. If they can pressure the ball successfully, they have better and better opportunities to create and score, the kind that other teams have against us. JoeyClams likes to talk about the quality of service. His point is that the Rapids don't have it. The other day I was watching a Brazilian game on FSW and watched for the crossing and entry balls into the box specifically. I was amazed, not at the skill, but that the players were always aiming for someone. I know that sounds ridiculously basic but I see the Rapids many times get down the flank then frantically launch a cross to the box, regardless of where any team mate may be. The Brazilians were always holding up if no one was free to set up something else. I think that getting solid pressure and posession will of course give the team time to set up more deliberate passes into the box. Since on another thread we are having an mini El Pibe retrospective, one of his strengths was to keep possession to give himself time to set up other players. Although he had great vision and passing skill (we are only talking about positives here) and could make great one touch passes, I think that he also gave himself to the time and position to make great plays on through balls. If the Rapids can do this a little better tonight at this basic midfield tactics, they have to win.
"Mastro is supposed to be available to play in tonight's game" "heard he might play in frazer's place" Danger Will Robinson Danger. I see multiple penalty kicks in the Rapids future with Pablo yanking on people in the box. His aggressive style is good in the middle of the field, I'm not so sure I want him as the last defender.
Didn't Mastro play mostly marking back or sweeper with the Fusion? I don't think he was a d-mid for them.
I don't think Mastro will start. Flying across an ocean and adjusting to an 8 hour time change takes a few days. If we see him, I think it will be in the middle of the second half.
i can't imagine pablo starting unless he skipped Monday's cameroon game altogether and came back early. otherwise he'll be totally out of it. maybe as a late game replacement for a defensive stand or something.
I guess it would depend on when he left. If he got into town anytime before last night I would expect him to be ready. Geez, this guy is in the prime of his life, a World Cup athelete, if he can't be ready to play 24 hours after landing???? Then again, what do I know. If he is a liability then he shouldn't play. A second half sub for defensive purposes? I do like the sound of that, however
we have to stop the 50/50 balls from garlick!!!! ththe other teams know he will kick and they put two men on the player that he is kicking too. It seems to go to the same place each time and we haven't gotten tooo many!!!!
- A tie is better than a loss - This tie sucked - Great 2 goals, outstanding run/control/pass by CC resulting in... - A Spencer dummy that finally works for... - Chung to score despite a bad first touch - Great set piece shot/goal by Spencer - Nat is a rock - Two(or three or four) many missed chances for more goals - You can't/don't win giving up so much possession - Pablo and/or Trembley should have prevented Albright goal - Kingsley can't judge headers (except the perfect flick-on to the galaxy once) - Unlucky to not get any penalties, there could have been 2 (or more) - Way way to many high balls out of the back - we're just giving the ball away - Save the time and energy, on our corners, just pass it directly to the opponents.
Hankinson has to go, why would you ever sub out Kingsley for Crawford when you're tied 2-2 at home? Those tactics would be OK if we were on the road but at home we should be more offensive. Also, what was the point of subbing on Crawford just to pull him back out of the game? Please don't come back Hankinson. I'll be calling Vicente Del Bosque tomorrow.
Due to this draw or more appropriately loss of a win, I will not be attending the July 4th game. The players are supported 100% but Hankinson can no longer be the coach. I refuse to watch us get killed in a sold out stadium on the 4th of July. Especially after the last 2 4th of July's have been so perfect. Of course I'll be back for the rest of the Home games but this one I'm going to sit out in protest and also because my damn job won't let me off. But for once I'm not too upset that I'll be missing it. If we win at least I'll have it on tape. If we lose we had better be short one head coach the following Monday, or I just might show up to the next game anyways. Kind of sucks being a fan sometimes.
