Rapinoe just got turned inside out by one of the Italians players. Not a good sign.

 

Does anyone know what the yellow card situation is for the US?

 

From this quote on US Soccer, Pia seems to have brought them in mostly for practice.

On the added midfielders:

12' 0-0 #10 Lloyd pokes loose ball down box right, crosses from endline, right to #1 Picarelli.
13' 0-0 #15 Rapinoe sprints down left, wins footrace by 1 step to 6m box left, rolls it poorly right to Picarelli.

 

On that sequence w lloyd and the handball was the first time I had even seen HAO.

 

Rapinoe needs to do with those. I like her driving runs, but bad passing

 

Wambach wearing 17 instead of 20 is just throwing me off altogether.

 

Lloyd is having a good game so far!

17' 0-0 #15 Rapinoe controls at 24m arc left, chips and either shanks it, partially blocked, or deliberate touch pass, turns into a mini-lob to #17(?!) Wambach running on to 8m left post -- her falling-down snap-volley attempt blocked point-blank by Picarelli.

21' 0-0 #1 5'4" Picarelli punts softly to 35m right, blocked sideways to #11 Marta Carissimi, and with no pressure close to her, she uncharacteristically sprays it into touch.

 

nothing down the right side at all...everything is coming down the left

 

24' 0-0 Italia springs #4 Alessia Tuttino down box left with two steps on #2 Mitts, who pursues doggedly and sliding-blocks it over for a left corner. USA clears that, controls at midfield.
