Who: Houston Dynamo v. Toronto FC When: Wednesday, June 20 @ 8:00 PM CDT Where: BBVA Compass Stadium Records: Toronto FC (1-10-0) 3 PTS, 10th in EAST Houston Dynamo (5-4-4) 19 PTS, 6th in EAST TV: FSH+/KHLM-43 Radio: 790/850 This is the first meeting between Houston and Toronto this year. The two teams will play twice more: July 28 @ TFC and August 25 here in Houston. Toronto's most recent game was a 2-0 loss in Kansas City. That was their first game with interim head coach Paul Mariner. TFC only has the one league win this year with an overall G.D. of -15. They are 0-5-0 on the road scoring 5 goals in those games while allowing 13. Houston is 2-1-2 in the last five league matches with 7 goals scored and 7 allowed. Houston is 3-0-1 at home in league games this year so far. Tickets are available.
Toronto FC all-time @ Houston: 07/15/07 HOU 0-0 TFC 06/08/08 HOU 3-1 TFC 05/30/09 HOU 3-0 TFC 09/08/10 HOU 1-2 TFC 07/09/11 HOU 2-0 TFC That's 3-1-1 with 9 goals scored and 3 allowed.
This game won't be a sell-out. I'm guessing attendance will be at 18-19K, unless they really offer some insane deals.
Playing the worst team in the league on a Wednesday night, that's a tough sell. Hopefully Ching can get on the board this game.
This reminds me of the NY Cosmos movie, where they said that they knew they'd made the big time, when they pulled 25k for a mid week game vs. a bottom of the table team, in the rain. If we can get 19k for Toronto on a wednesday, were doing great.
Already? *** Also, there's an Astros game at 1:00 pm, which may be over by 4:00 pm, but there may be some people still in the B/C lots by, what, maybe 6:00 pm (assuming it's over at 4:00)?
The TFC guys arrested: Luis Silva - 5 league starts this year for TFC, 4 other league appearances Miguel Aceval - 5 starts Nick Soolsma - 3 starts, 3 other appearances Silva was used as a sub against KC on Saturday.
The lots will clear pretty quickly after the Astros game. It's not like Astros fans hang around until the end of the game and they certainly don't hang around in the parking lots after games. . It will not be a large crowd on a Wednesday afternoon. I'd expect the lots to open for Dynamo fans at the normal 4 pm. Maybe a little later. The Astros previous mid-week early afternoon game on May 2 drew 19,000 officially and ended at 3:40 pm
And they're playing the Royals, which I wouldn't think would be a big draw. I doubt we'll have much of a crowd, so maybe it won't matter, even if the Astros game goes long.
When I was leaving the training today at about 11 or so a big bus was arriving, I'm guessing it was TFC. I suppose they are trying to acclimatize themselves but training at noon is really dumb. I've seen other teams train the same time as the Dynamo but on one of the other fields. Or they could train in the evening, but that would cut into their bar hopping.
Interesting Dynamo Stat: Dynamo Record when these players below score a goal: Andre Hainault 2-0-0 Brad Davis 2-0-0 Will Bruin 1-1-3 Brian Ching 0-0-1 Luis Camargo 0-0-1 Mac Kandji 0-1-0 Adam Moffat 1-0-0 Own Goal 1-0-0
Jaja. No, but maybe they got a late start cause they were tied up bonding their players out of jail. From the comments in the story in the Toronto paper: "What's your defence, TFC3?" "We have no defence, your honor." And they were joking that their players couldn't outrun a cop.
Well I am thinking that since we are playing the Canadians, as long as we stay strong on the power play, we will be just fine!
HPD - 4 Dynamo - 1 TFC - 0 At least we managed to get one of our guys out clean and free. Don't think TFC will be so lucky. HPD is really taking it to athletes this year. Hope the rest of the teams take notice. Seriously, though, I wonder if TFC/MLS will take some sort of action. One thing to be arrested in a racial altercation....another to be arrested for public intox/brawling. I think it was Kovermans who said this is the worst team he has ever been on. I think he is wrong. This team will get much, much worse before season's end. As for the lineup....I'm going to go with: Hall Andre-Boswell-Cameron-Ashe -Moffat Carr-Davis -Camargo -Bruin-Kandji It's what I'd go with. Ching does a lot of hustle but we need some goals. Watson really impressed in the last game but I think Camargo can really shine (finally) in this game and he has looked great off the bench.
Calen Carr, according to Glenn Davis isn't expected to play this week and is apparently out for two weeks.
It was that serious? That sucks. Well that makes things really interesting. Do you keep Clark on the bench and use him as an attacking sub (who really loves to get forward...anyone else notice that?) or do you start Camargo and Watson and let them switch positions freely?
I think you almost have to keep Clark on the bench as a sub for either the right or the left. Sure you can start him on the right and switch him but that displaces multiple people to make one sub if Watson or Davis need replaced). My guess is this (even though I would like to see Kandji): Ching -- Bruin Davis - Camargo - Moffat - Watson Ashe - BB.com - Cameron - Hainult Hall To me the bigger question is, can Camargo go 90 minutes in the middle yet?
