Anything less than three points and a shutout against Toronto is a disappointment. With SKC and New York going head to head, a Houston win will close some distance on 2nd place in the east regardless of the result in KC.
A towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitchhiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have "lost." What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with.
On the topic of giveaways...what did Degree anti-perspirant do last week to qualify as the "sponsors" of the game?? I was expecting a free roll-on. Or someone asking Ponce to test Degree v. Old Spice stick when striking his Touchdown Jesus pose. I didn't see anything having to do with Degree.
Honestly, a win is absolutely needed. I don't care about the shutout since GD is not the tiebreaker anymore. But we cannot afford to give up points right now if we want the first round BYE.
Wins at home vs. Toronto, Montreal, NE & Philly are probably going to be necessary to get the bye. And frankly if we can't get 10+ points out of those games at home we don't deserve it.
My wife went on vacation without me and the kids a few weeks ago and I was doing laundry. All of the regular towels in the entire house was in some part of being laundered so I put Houston Dynamo giveaway towels next to every sink in the house. Then I found another two more in the garage and one in the truck of the car. I don't think I need anymore Dynamo towels.
I get no respect at all anywhere on the interwebz! I'm going to go somewhere that posters are respected for their opinons. I'm not banned from the Dallas boards am I? Hahaha
anyone think The Dom might role out a B plus lineup and bring the big guns down south next week and for for the three pts. OK, I know it's a pipe dream.
Hey!!! no disrespect intended! You're our iconic, arms-up, sweating, Dynamo guy! (we're all sweaty guys at BBVA of course, so no disrespect intended by saying you're sweating!) Every time we see a picture of the supporters, there you are! If Degree had been looking for an armpit test case, you'd be the logical choice! They missed an awesome marketing opportunity! Imagine this...highlight film of you jumping and singing for 90 minutes, after the game the Dynamo girls all flock around you and the camera pans from you to the smiling girls, and the voice over says, "Degree, approved by The Ponce, and those who love him!" They could have made you a star!
No disrespect was taken. I was attempting to be comical. I dig that idea, if Nigel can get his own BBVA banking card why can't I get a freaking sponsorship deal?!
am i the only one that thinks that a win is a no brainer? i feel like we take care of business and take care of it easily. TFC should find zero joy here on Saturday and we should take our three points and get ready for the long plane flight next week. this should be one of our best showings of the year. davis will dominate. carr/kandji wide play will return. rico will shine. obg will continue to excel. JT & bobby will continue the "you shall not pass" mantra. hell, i think even Bruin might make an appearance this Saturday!
This feels like déjà vu the last time all these easy win comments happened we had that scare of a game. I'm just saying let go for the 3 and that's it.
Toronto has nothing to play for this season except Champs. League, so with their game against Santos Laguna on Tuesday you would think they will be fielding a sub heavy lineup versus the Dynamo. I don't pretend to know what goes on in Canadien minds though, so....yeah.
What you say makes sense . . . but the Toronto team we play is going to have a lot of people both on and off the pitch fighting for their jobs. =Dangerous
Maybe we could invite TFC out to some bars in midtown or the Roosevelt Lounge and see if we can get a few guys sent home early?
Other than the fact that the last time TFC was here they outplayed Houston and the team was lucky to get a result.
