By the time we are done with this edition of the CCL, Cam Weaver will be such a star that he won't be able to go to the bathroom in Central America without being hounded.
By this time next year, ESPN will be doing a 30 for 30 special on Cam Weaver titled "CAM stands for Central American Master" after he ravages CONCACAF for 10 goals
LOL, this just became 'must see tv'! Clearing my work appointments for Friday morning. The dude is so unstable that I think it wipes out Olimpia's home field advantage.
Well, this one will be interesting to see what Dom does. Would really like to know who got left behind like last week, but I am going to guess the team brings some more firepower than last week. So I think it will be a mix of the best performers from last week + a couple more starters. The episode ends with Rey emerging from a forest deep in Central America. He's looking for a good pupusa, but sees an ancient temple. As he approaches, Rey sees newtex holding up a giant player banner for Cam Weaver. Rey approaches to ask him what's going on, but backs away as he realizes that newtex is reciting a monologue on the nature of society and the futility of short corners. Suddenly, newtex notices Rey and tells him to go listen to Cam Weaver in the temple. He explains that the locals were so impressed by Cam Weaver's soccer and philosophy that they made him their king. Rey enters the temple. Through the dusty, dim light he discerns a figure sitting on a makeshift throne. The figure gestures for him to approach. Rey realizes it's Cam Weaver. As Rey steps over deflated soccer balls painted to look like severed heads, he notices two figures sitting at Cam Weaver's feet. He recognizes Westside and Ortiz, each wearing Mexico jerseys with "Weaver" on the back. Cam Weaver motions for Rey to sit between Westside and Ortiz. Rey hesitates as he notices their catatonic states. But then he hears Cam Weaver start a discourse on the failure of Western civilization and how the set-piece goal is the only truth that remains. Rey feels his knees buckle and sits down. He hears Cam Weaver make a really good point about existentialism and zonal defending. As he senses his soul slipping away, Rey mutters, "the horror, the horror."
Then Rey mutters, "Cam, you are truly wise." To which he replies "yes, I am. But why do you keep calling me Cam? My name is Dave". He then inexplicable breaks into an acoustic version of "Why I Am". Then Wondo, The Groo Grux King of the Reserves appears in the temple.
Zap 'em with the siren! Zap 'em with the siren. Do you know that "if" is the middle word in life? If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, avoid short corners. Complete waste of time.
I was going to go if there was just two others going. Could not find one person who would go.... so I let me fare lock lapse. I'm horribly disappointed that I'm not making at least one of the two away games for CCL. It is the biggest benefit of CCL to get to go meet the football lovers in our region.
Sorry to hear - haven't made a CCL game since Guatamala a couple of years ago - have hotel and plane ticket though still working on game ticket.
According to a Boswell tweet, they're heading out. Anyone seen anything about who didn't make the flight?
