With McGlynn out and Tolkin in, I hope Freeman gets more of a chance to get forward on the right this game. I would have tested Johnny and Downs, but perhaps neither is ready to go. Otherwise, what I expected, and with a week before the next game, fatigue is not as big a concern.
The Agyemang bull---- is just so insane, I can't notice anything else, I just keep rubbernecking that dumb--- decision. Guy has just got insane amounts of rope.
I also believe that we're going to have to try a back 3 at some point before the World Cup, though getting that tactical wrinkle might not matter much if the side is 70%+ made up of the B-team.
I’m fine with the starting line up. But I’d like to see some significant changes in the second half. Especially if it looks like we have clinched first in group. Give Johnny some more minutes, more Luna please, then McGlynn situationally maybe Paxten, and another look at White
Hmm... Poch is not thinking along the same lines as me at all. The only two players that I figured should be rotated that he rotated are the obvious Luna sitting on a yellow, and Tolkin getting a shot in Arfsten's spot. Otherwise, we have Aaronson for Berhalter for some reason (might this be a 433?), and Sullivan for McGlynn for some reason. And no other forwards are getting a shot to start. I guess Downs is down?
He is getting enough rope to hang himself and most of the rest of the USA as well. He reminds me of Romelu Lukaku without the skill and with all the dirty soccer he plays as his primary skill. But this Haiti matchup may be ideal for him as they have a number of other attempted Romelu Lukaku clones.
It’s not rope that you’re seeing. He is contributing. He is contributing more than Pochettino believes that the other players will contribute. We haven’t had a player who wins 50/50 balls like that in a long time. Sargent, Ferreira, Balogun, Pepi…you can go down the list of guys who lose most direct balls and 50/50 balls. Agyemang wins a ton of them and earns cards from the opposing team. He’s brutally strong and wears the other defenders out. Now, you can say that that’s not what you want and that’s fine. But what you can’t say is that he is being “given rope”, because that’s not what’s happening here. He’s the hold-up guy.
CONCACAF does the marketing, site selection, and most importantly, the PRICING for the Gold Cup. The tickets are absurdly high priced.
ok, im gonna have to ask you to just sit there quietly for a while- those are some god-awful portmanteaus. ...more like port-a-potty-manteaus if you had your way.
