Both the home and away game against CD Motagua will be on GOL TV Canada ... according page 63 of the Matchday Programme I picked up today. Both games 8 pm Eastern. Only the Bolton game doesn't have a broadcaster listed. The Programme isn't half-bad! I hadn't picked up one before. Though I haven't gone through it thoroughly yet ... was good reading on the subway and streetcar home though.
Motagua will be a tough opponent, Guevara will be extremely fit having just finished the world cup. Hopefully the new signings get into their groove by the 27th.
this game is very important. The home leg of this two game series will decide it all. TFC have to win here, no joke. If Preki rests starters for the league game before its justified. Every single player has to pumped and simply twitching to get it on. Cant let a repeat of last year happen here.
for us...it will definately depend how we do on the road. I think if Motagua can tie or lose by a goal..then we've done our job, because at home...its another animal. also our squad looks very good...probably the best I've seen it in a while. 19 yr old Ronald Martinez, he'll be the key in the mid with El Lobo Guevara,...that is...if he is cleared to play from his serious virus he has. Great Prospect. at the end of the day...I expect a very good game.
lol not just some common virus...its something back home we call La Denga. Its something very very serious...if it isn't treated right, it can be deadly. my Mom's half-brother died from it. but i heard he was slowly recovering...but he won't be fit in time. seeing as he hasn't trained nor been able to move at all. Some other youngster will probably take his spot in the mid.
I'm really looking forward to this game. I hope TFC gets more exposure in Honduras as a result. Not that I expect any Honduranos to buy TFC jerseys or anything, but it's nice to spread the word that Canada has a competitive football club. TFC's schedule seems pretty busy for the last two weeks of July. I would be worried yet the roster has filled out enough (Maicon, Mista, Ibrahim getting playing time), that we can do it. I predict two low scoring games. Certainly no blowouts. No more than 2 goals / team / game...although you never know. Prediction: Game 1 @ BMO: TFC 0 Motagua 0 Game 2 @ Honduras: TFC 0 Motagua 0 Would this mean extra time? Golden goal or...?
I guess you're taking the approach that if you set your expectations low(in this case two 0-0 games) you will usually achieve them.
Wont happen. TFC shocks the Hondurans with an unexpected wide open attack and puts three on Motagua. Mista, Dero and Barrett the goal scorers. The away game will be a formality.
Hope springs eternal. Three years of anemic offense has weighed on me so much that the prospect of fun attacking football has me speaking in tongues.
As a heads up, and to further colour the other answers provided. It's a standard away goals rule for the two matches. If tied after 180 (including away goals, it's normal extra time (no golden goal). However, there's no away goals in extra time. If tied after 210, it's on to penalties.
I would like to make a push that the TFC fans at the game be classy and give Amado a warm round of applause. He really was a class act while he was here, and I think he kinda got frozen out by Preki.
Yes, a good pre-match shout-out for Amado is most certainly in order. If it were not for Preki, Amado would still be on the side. He did not want to leave but wasn't exactly given the opportunity to stay either.
Wish Guevara well but I really want TFC to make it to the group stages. Here's hoping for a 2-0 cushion going to Honduras. 1-0 or a tie is not going to cut it. I dont think TFC really knows the difference between a crowd in Puerto Rico and one in Honduras
