i expect to see the following players: Tally Hall Richard Mulrooney, Ryan Cochrane, Adrian Serioux, Craig Waibel Sammy Appiah, Brian Mullan, Francisco Navas Cobo, Dominic Oduro Luis Landin, Cam Weaver i haven't caught up on my BS reading. is it true we're hosting this 3rd round match and a quarterfinal (if applicable)? are we really going for this cup this time? anyone have any quotes/insights from FO, players or coaching staff?
Hmmm. I heard it was here next Tuesday if we win but Canetti's Corner says it might be in Austin if they beat Chivas USA. Canetti also says this: That's the only comment I can find from any Dynamo person.
We already have the vaunted Charities Cup, our Cup cannot runneth over! jajajaja Honestly, I think it depends on what happens on the next few games. Win tomorrow and lose at Toronto and then the 1/4 Final takes on a sense of urgency of its own. Specially given the schedule for July with tough MLS games sandwiched around Superliga and the semi finals for the Open Cup not being until September.
a player has to be registered with the MLS or Club to play in the US Open Cup and Superliga? or how does it work? I'm thinking in case we bring new trialists or use the ones who were here already could we used them for these games? Or MLS Rules apply to all competitions equally?
Players have to be eligible to play in league games to play in the Open Cup. Trialists would not be eligible. SuperLiga is looser. You have to submit a list of players before the tournament but the regs don't say anything about the requiring the player to be eligible for league games or on any sort of permanent roster. It is pre-season after all for the Mexican teams so I'm pretty sure that trialists are OK as long as you put them on the list before the tournament starts.
The fact that we bid for some games tells me we are trying to win it, but with possibly 5 games in 14 days I would assume we'll try to win on the cheap vs. Miami and maybe put a little better unit out there next Tuesday. I can't imagine Dom will start anyone who would be in the starting 11 on Thursday night vs. Toronto.
This would be interesting to discover the real rule. I would hae thought that FIFA regulations would govern any tournament. I don't think it is considered exhibition so they would have to be under contract. I could be wrong though.
With Serioux gone, ERob banged up, Cameron out, and Waibel not dressed last week . . . we may not have a choice but to have some folks pull double duty. We have the depth at striker (Landin, Ching, Joe, Oduro) and Midfield (Cruz, Davis, Palmer, Mulrooney, Mullan, Ashe, Navis, Appiah) but the backline may have to gut it out (Hainult, Bos, Chabala, Cochrane, Waibel?, ERob?, Serioux?). You could move Mulrooney back, but then at least one middie still doubles up and up to 3 defenders. Keepers will split I imagine.
Ahh .. we will stir this pot again! Some of us consider Superliga an exhibition competition and not a FIFA sanctioned tournament or frankly anything official at all. Others feel that MLS/FMF's obtaining some sort of blessing from CONCACAF (which they have done) makes it official.
He was here on Saturday, but was not on the substitute list for the game. He trained with Appiah, Cobo and WB before the game.
I expect to see this line up: Hall Waibel--Cochrane--BB.Com--Barrett Cobo--Mulrooney--Spencer--Appiah Kinnear--Weaver I say Dynamo 4-1 with goals from Hall, Kinnear, Spencer and Waibel
Well, I think it was a lot less than that when we played FCD at Carl Lewis, and nobody complained. And that was against an MLS in-state rival with no hurricane threatening. I'm looking forward to it, and taking 3 friends.
Alex? You watch the news? Ok, so it's not supposed to hit here, more like S Texas, but it's supposed to be windy and wet here. Yesterday at this time they were showing it coming a lot closer to Houston.
my wife and I will be there so that is 6 and counting...that is half of an FCD mid week MLS home game...
