Was walking by the team hotel in DC this morning, and saw Nguyen, McCarthy, Cardenas and Moreno as some of the players getting on the bus to Hershey. Most of the regulars though have headed back to Boston.

Not sure if the game tomorrow will be shown online...?

    Rowe, Runstrom, Fagundez?

Unlike past seasons, the lineup should have enough quality to beat Harrisburg.

They better beat Harrisburg, I saw them play this year and they didn't look too creative offensively. I wish the Revs would make a statement though and just run out the A team all through the cup and really try and win it. Im looking for confirmation of a streaming link for tomorrow right now. They should play these games on saturdays and take a league off week and give it the proper respect it deserves. They should also choose sites by random draw. I generally for unique american traditions and not rampant anglophilism but in the case of the USOC they should just model it straight on the FA Cup, I like the 64 team field now, but they should do a better job tying in the USASA qualifying play in tournaments with more standardization.

There is another national cup competition in America, the Amateur Cup specifically for teams only in the 5th Division, USASA level. There was a tournament game yesterday down in Franklin and you can read about it on my blog if interested. http://deepinthepyramid.blogspot.com/

It's supposed to be streamed on revolutionsoccer.net. Now, whether it's going to be streamed watchably or like a preseason game is TBD.

There's a small stack of bleachers on one side and a raised hill with some sort of shack(concession stand?) on the other. If they put a camera on top of the shack it might be an alright angle, but from the bleachers it will be as poor as the preseason games.

That is a pretty cool looking intimate setup. I like how the stands are so close to the field. Hopefully they pack that place tomorrow. Do they have an active supporters group?

I definitely agree the Revo should try to win the tournament. But, we've also got some decent players who need playing time, Fagundez, Barnes, Rowe, etc.

I saw Fagundez board the bus as well, and think I saw Runstrom and Rowe as well. Not sure about the others as I didn't see them all.

    Bringing this post in here...
Reis and Benny and (I believe) Soares all are back in Boston. Had the chance to spend a few minutes talking to Jay Miller after the game and he mentioned that a few of the regulars were heading back to Boston, and I believe those three didn't make the trip to PA. The bus left around 10:30 for the three hour trip to Hershey this morning, and they'll be busing back early Wednesday morning to head back to Boston.

Took a long walk around around the Skyline Sports Complex field. It's just about fit for a Sunday league match. Uneven surface, large crown.

    Thanks for the info.

I've tried to guess what Heaps might do, and I almost never post about what I would do, but I have to say, in this case, I do have a preference -- I really hope Heaps sends out something close to his strongest line-up. This team needs some success -- having played reasonably well and having little so far to show for it, I think it would be damaging to the confidence to send out a B team and lose, whereas making a run could give the team some swagger it needs. BTW, HCI are on a high, having just knocked off the undefeated Rochester Rhinos. So (noting that Kyle says Benny is on the squad,) maybe Lozano and Barnes are added to the first XI, and Shalrie and Sene are rested, and Soares if you are right, and we run out this:

    Moreno, Cardenas
    Nguyen, Benny, McCarthy, Rowe
    Tierney, Lozano, Barnes, Alston
    Shuttleworth

bench: Brettschneider, Fagundez, Purdie, White, Reis (isn't Murray injured?)

Or if Lozano isn't 100%, then
    Moreno, Brettschneider
    Nguyen, Benny, Rowe, Cardenas
    Tierney, McCarthy, Barnes, Alston
    Shuttleworth

Apparently Benny got on the bus when I wasn't there, always a possibility.

But I do agree ... they need to have a strong squad, doesn't need to be the A, but needs to be a good mix.

Kyle McCarthy (and the Revs' website) says no video for this game - audio only. Sucks they couldn't even pull together the preseason setup (which was far from perfect but was still *something*). Soccer is the sport that's least translatable on radio, so I'll probably just follow along on Twitter.

Remember , that video setup was for a tournament, and shared among a handful of clubs for a handful of matches.

I don't know the cost aspects of supplying video, but it left me wondering: would it have been cheaper just to host the match?

Apparently the Revs did ask if they could buy the game from them, and they said no. Not surprisingly, from H-burg's perspective.

Have to wonder if Benny and Nguyen are there just in case they need some help off the bench today? I wouldn't think you'd start these two since they've been playing regularly and will be playing Saturday?

I guess it depends on how serious Heaps is taking the Cup

I'm thinking they start on the bench but if we're tied or down between minute 60-70 Heaps puts them in to swing the game.

Jay Miller is coaching this game - Heaps returned home to be with his family.

It's *not* all just about how seriously they are taking the cup - it's a tradeoff.

    - there are guys who need some rest
    - there are guys who need some playing time

I'm all for trying to win the USOC, but MLS still has to be the #1 priority. That's their league and their bread and butter.

I think there's clearly enough talent to put out there vs. Harrisburg, but the big issue IMO is going to be cohesion. Many of the guys have played very little to this point. And they haven't played at all as a unit, so I think it's going to be some rough going - especially developing some timing in the attack.

I'm also excited at the prospect of seeing our full Colombian Connection on the field together.

And, it would be nice to see White get some time, but he can't be in great physical condition after missing so much time with concussion symptoms.

I've been there (in-laws in the region) and it's a nice little park, but as for the quality of the pitch...
