Hmmm... Out: Jaqua, Holden, Davis, Dalglish In: Cochrane Maybe: Waibel, Ching, Ngwenya, Hayden This is stupid. This is going to be our, what, 33rd competitive game (CCC, USOC, SL, MLS...does the 'other' CCC count in this [3 games there...])? How rediculous
Why do you say that Holden is out? He was saying that he was targeting coming back for KC last week, is there new information? And why a "maybe" for Ngwenya? On Hayden, are you saying that you think he should play? Sorry, I can't see that, he has been pretty bad in the Reserve matches this year. And where would he be playing anyway? I would expect pretty much the same lineup as last night, except Robinson will be back and either Cochrane or Ianni sit down. If Ching can't go, then Wondo starts up top with Ngwenya. If Holden can't go, Ashe or Wondo start in the midfield. The thing with Holden is that even if he can go, his fitness has to be pretty bad, so maybe he has to come in as a sub and not start even if his ankle is ok. Having Robinson back will really help, the defense needed to be more physical last night and Eddie brings that every game. With another full week off, and another home game (so no travel), I would expect the team to be fully rested and come out firing. And KC has a midweek game, so they should be a bit more tired. That should all add up to a Dynamo win.
I think we should have picked up at least 2 players during the season because on saturday we had one sub that has ever played in a official game. With all the injuries that we have I can't belive we have not sign one player? Please lets pray that no one gets hurt on saturday because we will be playing with reserve division players. are we trying not to spend money?
can you make one.. Ashe Sucks!!! my 2 cents for the week... So Coach Kinnear ...Don't start him... ( the team would not pass him the ball the last game... don't you think they have lost confidence in him also!! ) he might be a good player but look at the second half of the game.. Wondo should have replaced him! he touched the ball 5 times or so.. Now that my stress has been release... Lets get back on track and win.... How about a scarf with both TA and EB on it.. i would buy one....
We are in trouble to many injuries and no new players. If we dont get back our hurt players soon we maybe end up in 3 third place very soon. I think the Dynamo drop the ball here thinking we dont need other players. Lets pray they all heal soon.
Unless we pay someone in beads, we can't afford a new player. I'm pretty sure after all the trades, we are close to if not at the salary cap limit.
How much does Jacqua make? He probably makes more than Adrian. We can trade Jacqua to RSL for a bag of balls and pick up Adrian. Put Adrian in the back, push Mulrooney up to CM with Rico and let DeRo go out to the left for now and then up front when Brad comes back.
I have to disagree, our bench if pretty deep. You have to consider the following as back ups: Holden, Ianni, Jacqua, Dalglish, Ashe and Mulrooney (unless you consider Waibel as back up to Mulrooney). Arguably 3 or 4 of these guys could be starting for other MLS teams. We shouldn't be complaining over 6 quality back-ups, we should be blessing our lucky stars and hoping we can get some of our starters back. I, for one, am very happy in retrospect with The Dom's player moves. I may be in the minority, but I think Jacqua was a great acquisition: he's no Ching but is versatile enough to cover for us...and hopefully Ching teaches him some things.
Actually, as I posted in the injury thread where Rickker also asked this question, the issue is not the salary cap. The issue is that the Dynamo have a full senior roster. They do have room on the developmental roster, but you are not going to get a developmental player who is going to make any kind of impact at this point in the season. As I posted a while back in the Dynamo Roster thread, the current salary for the Dynamo is just over $2.2M. The salary cap is $2.4M, so the team has room to sign more expensive senior roster players. The problem is who you cut or trade to make room on the roster. Every one of the guys on the senior roster has made a contribution this year, with Dalglish being the one who has done the least. But nobody is going to trade for Dalglish right now, until he proves that he is healthy (and even then, I doubt anyone would trade for him). Also, I don't think a team can cut a player while they are hurt. So the only real options to free up space on the senior roster are to trade one of the healthy players, or move Corey Ashe back down to the developmental roster (Corey would have to agree to this, but the team has done that before...). Who would you trade? I wouldn't let any of the healthy players go. Even though I'm not very impressed with Jaqua, I can't see who the team could get that would be better. I would stack up the Houston team's depth against any other team in the league. Sure, it would be nice to have a starting quality player as the 19th and 20th guy on the team, but that's pretty hard to do. Show me any other team that could be missing 7 senior roster players and still field the quality of team that Houston fielded.
There's also the question of where you're going to find some high impact player just sitting around waiting for a chance to sign with a team. If there was a good player available he probably would have been picked up by somebody else already.
Serioux makes the same amount as Jaqua ($120k). For all MLS player salaries, you can find them on the MLS Players Union website here And what makes you think that Dallas would trade Serioux? With Robinson back from his suspension, and Cochrane apparently healthy, I don't see that the Houston defense is an issue at all. And to date, Mulrooney paired with Ricardo is not a very offensive/creative combination.
Dallas needs an SI slot for Dennilson, Serioux is a likely target to be dumped by them. But I'm not sure if we should pick him up just for the sake of picking him up.
Yeah, I was thinking that as well...but I was trying to point out that even IF someone was out there, it's not as easy as throwing money at someone.
I know it's bad form to quote yourself but......it's just simpler than quoting Dynamofan So here is my explanation for why I think what I think: Maybe - Hayden is listed just because, in an emergency situation, he 'could' be used...not that Dom would really do so. He should be back this week, but our luck with injuries hasn't shown that. Ngwenya is a maybe due to his form during the Crew game....he was a pace off and was playing injured...hopefully he didn't aggrevate that injury and with the week rest, he'll be ok to go (unlike a certain LA coach who played their star and reinjured him.....) Out: Yes, Holden said he'd be back by this game but who knows. Even if he is ok, I'd still say he won't start and will probably come in as a late game sub. Anyway, just my thoughts.
Thanks for the clarification EN. On Hayden, he was on the bench for Cbus, so I assume he is healthy enough. On Ngwenya, I also thought he was off in the first half, but in the paper it said that it was not because of his ankle. He just said it was hard to get into the flow or something like that. With a full week off (unlike Beckham, playing two days in a row) I would expect the ankle gets that much better and Joseph should be ready to go. On Holden, I agree that it would be a stretch to assume he would start given how long it's been since he played. So hopefully Holden is available off the bench, maybe play 30-35 minutes. Alternatively, Holden may start but only go 45-55 minutes and then get subbed out when he's out of gas.
I just read the Denilson press release and noticed that Serioux is indeed healthy now so he could be cut theoretically.
Tim Pupura of MC Dynamo, you would trade a young guy with speed and potential for an older guy who has been slowed by injury and whose knee may never fully recover? I like Adrian and what he brought to the team last year, but this is not the Adrian from last year and I have doubts he ever will be again. Ashe is a rookie who has a lot to learn and will with time.
I second the thought. Anywho, MLS teams don't have the $$ to create teams that are 2 deep in every position...even Chelsea wasn't able to do that. You have to plan on several injuries in any given season, but we got the injury bug. At least with the play-off system we can still qualify and win the Cup if we drop more games. But, I Trust in Dom and we'll see a W this weekend.
Linky We aren't the only ones.... Vamos Pachuca Not sure where to put this so I'll just put it here..... Bush to coach UH Women's Soccer v UCLA.... .... .... .... Admit it, you thought I was reffering to the president!
