Do you guys have specific pre-game rituals? If so, what are they? How long do you practice each day, and how do you motivate yourself to work hard when you're by yourself and how do you motivate yourself to play well in a game?

My pre-game ritual is to, before I leave my house, lay down and watch soccer tapes that remind me why I love to play and help me relax. This helps me focus.

As for motivating myself to play by myself, somtimes I can do it fine, other times, I have trouble doing so. What do you do?

well as u can see by my name im also a wrestler and the way wrestlers warm up before matches is to jog in place while shaking their arms, rolling their shoulders, etc. I usually do start doing thi a couple mins before the kickoff. i then start thinking about how much i want to ************ up the oppsing teams foward(i usually play FB, CB, DMF, or GK ) and start getting pissed off and punching the goal posts. This usually works cuz i go into the game confident. Also when i get put in the goal i like to tap each gola post twice with each foot and tell them to get smaller just like patrick roy does. then when the game is going on i say to myself i can ************ing do this a million times. thiis works to cuz when the players come down and start taking shots there is no fear

When I'm in my car driving to a game I'll listen to some rap music or other music with a fast beat. Actually tests have shown if you listen to fast paced music before a game your heart beats faster and you play harder.

As for how do I motivate myself I'll use me training for my High school team. I picture myself running out on the pitch and seeing my girlfriend in the stands cheering me on. And that image always makes me get motivated to go out with a ball and play around.

I just take a few minutes to meditate before each game - and I usually wear earplugs when warming up. I try to go into every game as calm as possible. I tend to play badly if I try to get "pumped up" before the game.

What my high school team does before every game is to warm up and then everyone goes and lays down on the floor in the fieldhouse and think about yourself on the pitch doing good things!!! I just think about the game with select and ODP.

When getting dressed... right side goes on first. i.e. right pad, left pad, right sock, left sock

Touch the field, and kiss my hand when i go on...

Kiss the right post, crossbar, left post twice, and throw my water bottle into the left side. When I mean kiss, I kiss my glove then the post

Don't wash my stuff (except for gloves) when we're winning.

    Pretty stupid stuff lol

    Pre-game rituals

I always get dressed at home. That way when I get to the field, I'm totally concentrating on the game. I always blast Zeppelin's Kashmir and put it on repeat while getting dressed. If I'm in goal, I do a little boxing ritual with the posts and crossbar right before kickoff (hey you asked! :)

A few days ago I bought the FourFourTwo with Wayne Rooney on the cover. I read the article about him on the inside and it has become my inspiration to train hard. Now every time before I go out by myself to train, I lay down on the couch and read it right before. Reading about him scoring 99 goals with on team and 76 with the other in one year is incredible and inspirational. And this exert in particular gets me ready - "Meanwhile, Rooney was going straight school every afternoon at 3:30 to the Academy's playing fields a mile from his home to put in 90 minutes of solo practice before training session's five o'clock start." Every time I read that I just jump up off the couch and go out there. Its a great article. And I recommend FourFourTwo. I've read a few in the past in they're always good reads.

Last season my team was supposed to rub a stuffed care bear's belly, but when we did that we lost our game so we stopped with that tradition. Then we were supposes to squeeze a little squishy soccer ball but we lost that game too, so after that we didn't have any pre-game rituals...

    Pre-game rituals

Before the game, I listen to some bad ass music, like AC/DC. and I picture myself flying down the field like someone stuck a rocket up my ass and slicing through the defense and knocking a nasty shot into the lower far corner of the goal. My suggestion would be to find something that works for you and stick with it

this is kinda silly but my friend has a wife beater that was signed by some a-league guy... and whenever he wears it, we win. Also,I'm not a good shooter, I've only scored 1 goal in my whole life, because I have a leg disability called Cerebral Palsy(CP) and when i wore the wife beater once, i got my first goal... so it works. ;) :)

Ooh. Pregame music ideas. Excellent. My music varies a bit, but usually is pulled from "Tubthumping", "Jump" by Van Halen, "Baby Got Back", "Anthem for the year 2000" and "Ice Ice Baby." And the last song is always either "Right Now" or "Jump Around." Funny thing is that I can't listen to most of those songs at any other time.

All my equipment goes on left first and then right except for my gloves. And my goalpost kissing order is crossbar, right post then left post.

How do you kiss the crossbar? Do you get a little step ladder or something?

Same way as described by somebody earlier - I actually kiss my glove, and then tap the bar. That's also how I kiss the posts.

What I do is in the morning I listen to hard core rap music and watch saves on YouTube. I have a really healthy breakfast Then on the way there listen to pump up music. At the game I jump and touch the top corners and middle top cross bar of the net. If it is indoor season then i warm up my legs and arms and touch the top and bottom corners of the net and the top cross bar because when you play on the boards its faster paced.

The night before a game me and the rest of the team like to go out and get wasted, then in the morning you get a nice hangover and the following 90 mins is a blur and nothing really matters..

    ah sunday league:inlove:
