8/22 USA Today artticle on WUSA http://www.usatoday.com/sports/soccer/wusa/2002-08-22-sophomore_x.htm If they have to educate people...then ain't they already behind the curve on this? I still run into people that go "What is PAX?". I don't think we'll ever come to a definitive solution as to how to market to this demographic.
8/23 Washington Post article on WUSA Half-Full or Half-Empty? WUSA Glass a Bit of Both By Brian Straus Special to The Washington Post Friday, August 23, 2002; Page D02
8/23 AJC article on WUSA Aw crap. I shoulda created just one thread to dump in all pre-FC2 articles into. From the Atlanta Journal Constitution: WUSA optimistic, even as honeymoon ends By WENDY PARKER Atlanta Journal-Constitution Staff Writer And I do believe this was a midweek game at RFK and I do believe that many area schools were still in session at this time. Probably cuz no one has a friggin' clue what the hell PAX is. Stupid ass timebuy! WUSA should be on a known network like Oxygen. Sooooo...."re-upped for another five years". Does this mean that they have provided financing to cover the next 8 years???

<<Says Morgan: "The fact some people have noticed these women are also attractive, we're not ashamed of it. Will it be the way they are marketed? No.">> So why did she send Playboy a list of names trying to stir up some interest in WUSA?
IIRC this was a media packet that was sent out to numerous media outlets, just not Playboy. There was a pic of this in a somewhat recent Sports Illustrated. It had pics of Hamm, Mitts, and other good looking players.
Pax et al... The WUSA/Pax partnership is at its heart a simple mismatch. The problem is that while Pax is family-friendly, families don't actually watch the network. The core Pax audience tends to be made of senior citizens who for the most part have no interest in women's soccer. All the ads for WUSA that Pax airs on its shows are as such essentially a waste of time. The families and teen females that WUSA wants wouldn't know Pax from trax. Pax would have been better off trying to get something like minor league baseball for its viewership. WUSA would have been better off on a channel for younger females or families (Oxygen as one possibliity, though low-rated in its own right.)
<<There was a pic of this in a somewhat recent Sports Illustrated. It had pics of Hamm, Mitts, and other good looking players.>> I don't buy that. I remember reading an article that talked to Playboy officials and it made it sound like WUSA volunteered players for their poll v. Playboy coming to WUSA.
