I didn't see a thread started yet... we probably need a place to discuss these upcoming matches. USA will play two friendlies before the Centennial Copa America. Ecuador on May 25 & Bolivia on May 28 before the Copa kicks off on June 3rd (USA v Colombia, (9:30 ET at Levi Stadium in Cali).
I liked the high press 4 3 3 the USA played against Guat. I hope to see them try this against a better Colombian team, and test it against Ecuador in the warm up. Here is who I think JK will bring in... I am guessing a 23 man roster...anybody know how big the roster will be? The game against Ecuador in Texas should be competitive. And it will be interesting to see how many fans show up. Bolivia is about as bad as Guatemala is on the road so I don't expect much of a fight from that game.
He probably meant both. The air of pessimism, cynicism, and malaise around the Men's program is so thick you could cut it with a knife.
I do not expect us to lose. Again, I will never hold Jurgen to the lower standard he wishes we would. The friendlies? Who cares? It should be very simple with friendlies set before a tournament. Is the team using them as the integrative, cohesive moment they should be? With the tournament, it's even simpler. If Jurgen has a shred of respect for the USMNT, and a shred of respect for not being remembered as just a blustering fraud, this is his chance to show he he can play men in their right positions, play those who are on form, play those who add to the whole team, play those who will fight to the very last moment, and that he will stick with these through the friendlies to give maximum hope of being a team that understands itself, and has confidence in itself, into the tournament. After 5 years, Jurgen, you are barren of excuses. You have a chance in this tournament you did not deserve, should not have been around to see. But the Gods love their golden fools, and Sunil is a coward, so you did get such a chance. Damn it then, Jurgen, take advantage of that chance and start doing right by the team, and so by yourself.
You sure did use a lot of words to say something that could have been summed up in a sentence or two.
Sure, like I could have just said "2", instead of bothering to tell you it's meaning was "1+1". But then you would have gone first prime clown on me.
Well, I may be a simple clown from a backwoods simple neighborhood but none of the words you used really fully explained to me how they are related to the main premises of the thread or even the premises you believe in. So it seems to be clutter in a grammatical sense rather than a mathematical equation.
You, an LA Clown pretending to be a simple clown from the backwoods of Bellaire, you still don't know the difference between mathematical expressions and the functions of grammar? Homie, it's a cluster clutter with you.
Well, all I know is if you really don't care about friendlies and you were smart you would avoid a thread talking about friendlies. Not write on and on and on about unrelated things and personal opinions. IT is that simple yet that complex.
Gotta tip you hat to Klinnsman here. First victories in Italy, Germany, and Holland. Now if he can get that Bolivian monkey off out back, wow!!!!
Winning against Bolivia will leave the team breathless. [/joke] They're gonna have trouble lugging those oxygen tanks around the field, after all.
I predict we will lose the friendlies and crash out of the Copa group stage with a hard-earned point.
The draw will be against Paraguay, as both teams will bunker and never move out of their own halves. It won't just be a draw, but a hipster draw, full of loathing, self-doubt, and Nirvana songs.
It just seems kind of stupid that you say who cares about friendlies and yet post in a thread strictly about friendlies. If you don't care about friendlies than just avoid the thread. That is what most people do when they don't care about something. If all posters did what you did and went into threads and wrote one sentence about the thread topic and then a bunch of unrelated crap about Klinsi then it would be one sad forum.
The first number is minutes played since the World Cup and the second number is how many times a player was called up.
It seems kind of stupid for you to say that this is a thread strictly about friendlies. Notice, it says "PreCopa". You know, friendlies with a purpose. Friendlies to prepare a team for a tournament. Unlike, say, friendlies to let Jurgen visit with his German and Dutch friends. If any poster did what you did, and went into a thread and lied about its purpose, and then used that lie to claim that posts were not in accord to what your lie indicates, well, then, that poster would be a Clown. If any poster did what you did, and lied about what a poster wrote, well then, that poster would be a Clown. I would ask you to reread my post, which followed that of "Master O". Give you a chance to think through what I may have meant by what I wrote. But you won't, and then will continue in your Homie way, so here is right to it: Footsall had written, in response to Gilma, ↑"Lose what? The friendlies or the Copa? I am hoping we just get out of the group." And in reply to him Master O had written: "He [Gilma] probably meant both. The air of pessimism, cynicism, and malaise around the Men's program is so thick you could cut it with a knife." Then in continuation of this conversation, I began by writing: "I do not expect us to lose. Again, I will never hold Jurgen to the lower standard he wishes we would. The friendlies? Who cares? It should be very simple with friendlies set before a tournament. Is the team using them as the integrative, cohesive moment they should be? " Notice that the thread had, in full recognition of the friendlies being aimed at Copa, already turned to discussion of how we would fare at the Copa? Notice that my point was that the results of friendlies was something I did not care about, but what I did care about was that those friendlies be aimed at integrating, making more cohesive, the team? Notice that discussion of what is useful about friendlies, and how they should be approached for us to aim at doing well in the Copa, is exactly discussion of "PreCopa" friendlies? Notice how the "crap" about Klismann was exactly related to the friendlies and to the Copa? A bunch of unrelated crap from a Homie makes for one sad clown.
Oh, by the way, Homie the Clown, I do not expect us to waste our time in the friendlies, and I do not expect us to fail to get to at least the round of 8 in the Copa. I expect Jurgen to realize it is time to start walking the walk, and I expect him to do his utmost best to prepare this team for the tournament. As I said in the original post: "this is his chance to show he he can play men in their right positions, play those who are on form, play those who add to the whole team, play those who will fight to the very last moment, and that he will stick with these through the friendlies to give maximum hope of being a team that understands itself, and has confidence in itself, into the tournament." But, then, Homie wonders, surely the Copa and the PreCopa friendlies having nothing to do with a thread on the PreCopa friendlies? Well, Sir, that's why you live in the backwoods of Bellaire and I'm lost somewhere in the backwoods of Worcester.
