Well, I for one hope we line up with 11 players and not 10 tomorrow!

    ;)

I'm sure Diceson just forgot to drop Villegas' name in there.

    That's easy to do.

I'd like to forget that he plays for DC since he forgot he played for us last game and passed right to his old teammate Faria.

Well, I'm looking for a statement to be released.

While it says Alavanja's accident wasn't life threatening, he was taken to the hospital. If he can't go (and it looks like he would be unable to go), can we call up a replacement from Richmond or somewhere?

I ask this because I think the site said that our playoff rosters are set at the end of the game, so they would need to make any personnel moves before then to have the person in for the playoffs as a backup (which given our injury situation we might really need). Does this mean Mike Burke of another Richmond midfielder gets a call-up or do we just go with another roster spot taken up by injury? They would probably not show for us tomorrow night since they have a game, but it might be nice to have them on the bench just in case another body is needed in any playoff situation.

"The team will be coming out with a statement later today," doesn't sound good.

Here is the quote from mlsnet.com: "Immediately following a team's final regular season game, no additions can be made to a squad's active roster until the day after the League's championship game (MLS Cup 2002 at Gillette Stadium on Oct. 20)."

So, if (and who knows whether we would get a replacement, but we are looking rather thin) we get a call-up replacement, they would have to name that replacement by about 9:30pm Thursday.

    DC United release:

Lazo Alavanja Involved in Car Accident

Reserve Midfielder to Miss Remainder of Year

CHANTILLY, VA (September 18, 2002) - D.C. United announced today that midfielder Lazo Alavanja was involved in a car accident this morning on his way to training at RFK Stadium. Alavanja suffered a broken right collar bone and a stiff neck in the crash. No surgery is deemed necessary at this time. The product of Indiana University was treated and released at Washington Hospital Center and will receive follow-up care from club physician Dr. William Hazel. His recovery is expected to last four to six weeks.

OK, it's time to own up to it. Who hit Lazo this morning to make sure he doesn't play tomorrow?

In all seriousness though, I hope he's alright. I'm sure Hudson will pull out one of those "win one for the gipper" routines, and you know that it will work with him.

Funny to hear RH say we have a great bench though.

I've probably been the harshest critic of Lazo all season long..

With that being said, get well soon Lazo.. I'm glad it wasn't too serious....

Anybody who even makes a joke of this is sick....

Please. The injury isn't life or "career" threatening, it doesn't even need surgery. The only difference you will see in Lazo tomorrow night is he'll be on the bench wearing a sling instead of the training uniform. It's up to you if that's better or worse.

Besides, laughter is the best medicine. :)

Well, since our bench players are starting, there is not much drop off between them and the other bench players... :(

    Hudson said
    Uhhhh, we do?

I guess he means that Santino may get 15-20 mins off the bench, Curtis is a pretty decent option to throw at a tired team (particularly when we're bunkered and countering) and Chino showed well last week. But I still don't think I'd call our bench good.

Best wishes to Lazo. Get well soon and we're all pulling for ya. We talk smack a lot, but we really are pulling for ya.

I wonder if Moreno makes a surprise appearance? Probably just my wild imagination, heh. ;)

Hope Lazo makes a 100% recovery.

    So we can trade him....

In all honesty, I don't think we would be so hard on the kid if he wasn't Hudson's second choice in the dispersal draft.

    Convey

Good to hear that Ray seems to be planning to keep Convey in the middle with Etch.

Also good news that Etcheverry was practicing - hopefully his knee holds up!

Looking forward to a "merciless" performance from DCU.
